    Familiars - Advantage or Disadvantage?

That XP penalty goes a long way to making sure people don't take familiars. In fact, I've only ever had one player take a familiar, and he was a newbie. In the current game I'm running, though, one of the spellcasters took Imbued Staff.

Do you let Magic Missiles destroy Mirror Images?

...And I'd rule that you just destroyed a perfectly good ham sandwich.

    What is your party composition?

I'm using generic classes and a modified skillset. Anyways, here's what my party's currently like. Note that not everyone shows up for every game. Half of us work at the same store, so it screws our schedules sometimes. In my current game: Derek, Human Warrior 2/Spellcaster 1...

How long did your World's Largest Dungeon campaign last?

Yeah. That was a big problem for me. "we check the door", "You see a hallway." I got really sick of the first dungeon really quick, and after a month of play, I'm pretty sure my players were tiring of it, too. I worked out a way for the gate with demons coming out of it to transport them...

Looking for an AoE (Force) spell

Look in Penumbra's Love and War. There's a nonlethal AOE force spell in there called Path of Valor. And...that's all I can really think of at the moment.

Writing Religion into a Campaign Setting

I don't ever bother actually statting out a deity. A waste of time if your game doesn't have active gods.

    Encouraging Elven Player Characters

A constitution penalty matters little, when your common citizens are as good with bows as a decently trained nonheroic human soldier. Elf armies are pretty fearsome, when you think of it like that. Yes, that's right. Elves practice WEAPON TRAINING in their youth. They have a relatively...

    Encouraging Elven Player Characters

This is why in one world I ran, loosely based off the real world, Elves were Middle Easterners, Africans and the like. It gave them a different feel from what people were used to seeing. Hell, my players started viewing elves as crazy badasses, and it even gave me an excuse to make ancient...

New Skill System (Part 1: The Basics)

This system works GREAT. I'm using this, and generic classes in my WLD game I started running this month. I made the decision to give each of the generic classes 2 more skill points each, and allowed them to choose whatever skills they liked. The players like it, and it works really well. It...

Obvious player things that modules often don't get

Yeah. They even made a cart for him to pull. Sometimes I'm pretty horrified, too.

Obvious player things that modules often don't get

Man, lemme tell ya. What about: Chop up all the wooden items in the dungeon and cart them around on the high STR packrat dwarf so that the expert can use carpentry to shut doors and create battlements with which to combat enemies within hallways.

D&D and Poker: Not So Different

Should Psionics be part of the core in 4th edition?

Psionics as they are just don't....fit right. Or at least that's what I've always felt as a DM. Yes, its a kind of nice system to use, but alongside magic, its just...too much extra mechanics without enough variance to really justify itself. I'd rather we have a core system of magic that can...
