D&D 5E Booming Blade and Green-Flame Blade Nerfed in TCoE

Well that's special... Guess what is getting sharpied out if any of my players take the spell.

D&D 5E Booming Blade and Green-Flame Blade Nerfed in TCoE

Have we actually seen the new text for the spells? Unless they're being weird, it should just be "Range: Self", and "as part of this spell make a melee weapon attack." If they did that, the "within 5 feet" is no longer needed, the range is now set by the weapon.

    D&D 5E Unarmored Defense as a Feat?

It should be fine. Mostly I see it being used as an option for characters that would otherwise have light armor, and would give them one or two AC higher than their non-magical options. If you roll for attributes, its power could vary...

D&D 5E Proficiency bonus based AC and armor as temp HP with reduced AC bonus?

Maybe, maybe not for mage armor. Depending how far you want to go with it, there are two main things that factor in: avoidance (current AC) and resistance/resilience (HP). If something is mainly there to be a buffer when you get hit (most armors), then it's main benefit should be to...

D&D 5E Multiclass for level 3 wizard (evoker)?

You could go for a level of barbarian. AC 14 without wearing anything, and a very unpleasant surprise for anyone who gets too close thinking you're an easy target.

    D&D 5E Lore Mastery Wizard

Changing the damage type generally isn't that powerful if you don't know resistances/vulnerabilities ahead of time. Is the ability unlimited in both what damage type you can change it to/from, and the number of times you can do it each day? That would be more concerning. There should be some...

    D&D 5E Losing Interest in Character/ Class?

Great back story. If it were me, I would base the decision around this: "I will uncover your secrets, and I will find out what happened to my friends." If it is still a driving force, how does he intend to do it? Resume studying the shadows (sorcerer)? Pursue the whispers (warlock)? Focus on...

    D&D 5E Losing Interest in Character/ Class?

What is/was the concept for your character? For the game I'm currently in, I started off with a skills & utility concept. Basically someone who was very useful outside of combat, and left the serious fighting to others. I went with an Entertainer (who he is) Rogue (what he does when things go...

D&D 5E I need help to make a compass using Wish

Do you happen to know how the other player's wish was worded? And what happened to them? That would help with knowing whether the DM is being malevolent, literal, or just playing a being that doesn't like granting wishes. It is entirely possible that your best option is to not make any wishes.

    D&D 5E Paladin/rogue multiclass.

How set are you on Oath of Redemption? Devotion or Vengeance seem like they would be fun with the Swashbuckler Rogue

    D&D 3E/3.5 the 3e skill system

It worked pretty well at low levels (1-5ish), but at higher levels turned into success/failure based on whether you maxed out the skill or not. Being "decent" at a skill generally wasn't a good option unless you were unnaturally lucky with rolls. A maxed out character could, on certain skills...

D&D 5E Saves for Secret Charms

If it's a drawn out interaction, I would ask for the save(s) at a random point and note the result. Try to have the roll be away from any "ask" the creature might make of its victims. Unless success makes the characters aware of the attempt, or failure would make them act/feel significantly...

    Surprise Round Variant: Preemptive Strike

From your description, you may be missing a step on determining surprise - Perception. At the start of any of those situations, the players should all roll perception to notice that something is off: *The dragon is inhaling to breath fire, vs just taking a deep breath. *There is something in...

D&D 5E Divisions of power: Spell lists

The only real red flag I can think of would be giving the sorcerer/wizard list to a cleric. All the other perks they have PLUS the larger damage spells may be excessive.

D&D 5E Bend Luck unusable for self?

If you'd like an "in world" reasoning for why it only affects other characters/creatures, here goes: *Bend Luck requires focus. *If you are actively engaged in an activity (casting a spell, shooting a crossbow, climbing a wall, etc.), you don't have enough focus to spare until after the task is...

    D&D 5E Building a dungeon that Meta-games

It sounds like it could be fun, but you'd need to make sure that doesn't just turn into a "screw the PCs" dungeon (otherwise they should leave it alone after a couple trips in). The easiest way to do that would to be having built-in limitations on what it can do. Some have already been...

D&D 5E Looking for a Flame Blade fix

I think it's best used by a Moon druid for the times they don't want to waste a transformation (kobold or goblin warrens). They should probably have the War Caster feat anyway, because Barkskin + Bear form is a thing. There are also "stealth" uses - cast the spell before walking into a...

    D&D 5E Some Feat Adjustments

*Choose four weapons. You gain proficiency with them if you did not already have it, and attacks made with these weapons deal +2 damage.* Basically remove the implication that you have to choose weapons you don't know. That allows someone to become very good with the weapons while still being...

    Adventure Name Question

That one sounds fun too. I managed to find the one i was looking for: Ghost of/House on Harrow Hill. It was one of the Intro box adventures.

    Adventure Name Question

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out the nname of an adventure that I (used to?) own. It was from 2e and featured a haunted house/mansion where a ghost was trying to ressurect itself. The characters are locked in and must try to figure out the secret (with the help of journal entries from bith...
