    RPGs in Target!

Finally! Should have happened within a year of being bought by Hasbro years ago.

Fortune Cards: and randomized collectible cards come to D&D

I think they're fooling themselves if they think people are going to buy a couple of random boosters of these cards, and then NOT open them until they're sitting around the table ready to play. Most are going to open these immediately to see what they got! Except those of us that won't buy...

    (APG) Substituting Archetype Abilities

I also think it has been said that non-clerics may NOT take sub-domains, but its one of those things that strongly inferred and not spelled out directly. I eagerly await the errata document so as to avoid any future conflicts! edit: ninja'd!

What to purchase for a 7 year old

Obviously you know her best, I mean, she is your daughter! But if you feel she's mature enough, go for the red box. If you feel that she may not be ready for lots of rules just yet, go with Heroscape. You get the D&D feel, but very simple mechanics. Plus it comes with minis.

    APG - Hero Points

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm not going to allow the feats, spells, and magic items that go along with.

    APG - Hero Points

I love it. I used Action Points in my last campaign, but I used them pretty much exactly like the Hero Points (which of course, comes largely from Unearthed Arcana). My only issue was in trying to figure out how many to award, and what limit to place on them. Early in the campaign I didn't...

Help! I have too many players!

Man, I feel for you. I have a similar issue myself. I've got 8 players right now. 8! It's hard balancing encounters too, because upping the CR isn't always possible, and just increasing the opponents isn't always easy either, depending on the adventure site, especially if you're dealing with...

    Essentials - calling a spade a spade

I think this is all semantics. No way to really tell whether this is .25, .5, .3, .75, etc. until 5E actually comes out, and it doesn't really matter. It is a revision. Minor or Major? I guess we'll know after its out. A revision isn't a bad thing though. Well, not always. If it improves the...

Why *Dont* you like Forgotten Realms?

I can echo what a lot of people have already said. 1. I like the original gray boxed set, and many of the supplements that followed it. 2. Eventually however, it got waaaay too detailed. I didn't feel comforatable running a game there for fear of treading on continuity, or worrying about...

You don't play 4E, but what did they get RIGHT?

I made a long "pros and cons" list for myself one time, and the cons list is a lot longer, but there were several pros I really liked. Then I realized that some of the pros were things that already existed in 3E, although there were often optional rules. That being said, the items from 4E...

    3.5 better for world building?

Yeah, I'm not sure. On one hand, it does feel like 3E has so many more options that you could do alot more when it comes to world building, but the fluff and mechanics of 4E would seem to be tied together in such a way as to make it more difficult. But then again, that might just be a matter...

Man, Lords of Madness are looking awesome!!

yeah, I'm not a big fan of "Very Rare", but then again, I'm not a big fan of randomized packaging of any sort. But, I realize the issues with selling minis. I wish they'd try selling minis in packs with the commons and uncommons visible, and one hidden rare (or very rare). That way you pretty...

    Virtual Tabletop software?

While I haven't used any, I have heard good things about Maptool and Fantasy Grounds. I was able to check out Inferno at Gencon and wasn't too impressed.

    Ultimate Magic

Eh, I'm still willing to pay the higher price, just for the free pdf and the earlier shipping. I hate waiting on Amazon to ship, and by buying directly from Paizo I get the download of the pdf as soon as it ships, and get the book about a week earlier than the stores. I have a feeling...

    Is Greyhawk Relevant?

Kind of "frightens" me that the Ravenloft game will allow you to play a Vampire, Werewolf, and Ghost.... Twilight. That's all I'm sayin'.

    Ravenloft Boardgame?

Well, unfortunately it was NOT for sale at Gencon. Girl at the counter said it wasn't available yet. Didn't make it to a demo, though a buddy of mine tried. He got turned away because they weren't ready when he went.
