In my opinion Lord of the Rings Online blows the doors off of WoW or DDO. I was in a two hour raid last night in the Barrow Downs that felt like a roller coaster ride. Plus, LOTRO is free.

I would certainly say that druids are highly versatile, moreso than many other classes. I don't know about overpowered because they can be taken out of their element pretty quickly, but given the proper circumstances druid are slippery fish to catch.

I would suggest sitting in on games if you can and trying them out. The best edition to play is the one that your players and yourself enjoy, regardless of the number. It may be 4e, it may be 3.5 or Pathfinder. It is an investment, so try them out through others and see what will work best for you.
