Proposed Monk Rules Preview (not house rules)

Great input! Thanks. I did not think about the immobilization happening on an OA, that's a really good point. Hmmm... maybe prone (tripped with a leg sweep)? That way they can easily recover on their turn, so it's less powerful. I don't know, maybe there should be no extra effect at all...

Proposed Monk Rules Preview (not house rules)

They have not asked me, so until I submit it and they accept it this is just my own personal draft for article content. Posting like this is not an issue, but thanks for your concern.

Proposed Monk Rules Preview (not house rules)

Thanks. I am intentionally leaving out the fluff for now so we can focus on the mechanics. The article submission will include a lot more text just as you suggest.

Proposed Monk Rules Preview (not house rules)

mneme: Thanks for your response. Nothing, and I think that's okay. Of course, they can't be using that weapon in the attack. Good point. I was concerned about stacking issues, but maybe it's fine if Empty Palm granted an unnamed bonus? Not too powerful? I think the Defensive Move...

Proposed Monk Rules Preview (not house rules)

Monks currently have little support of their iconic unarmed strike and also have a pretty poor basic attack. I am starting work on a Class Acts article that I will submit to address this, and I wanted your comments. These are intended to become rules in the future, which is why I want your...

    Rule-of-Three for May 23

Humanoids It seems to be the best epic opponents are ordinary (epic) humanoids. Humans, elves, etc.... They make great bad guys - and the players generally have no idea on their capabilities because they are not standard monsters. Plus, of of course politics,. etc, etc.

    Dragon 398: Rituals Index

Great list, but its missing the casting time. It would be significantly more valuable with the casting time in the list.

The Problem of DDI...Solved! (Well, not really)

My opinion: 1. Off-line is much more convenient, though WotC picked the wrong way to code it. A cross-platform language like Java woudl have been much better - and likely faster, too, as it really could not be slower. :p 2. Much of the off-line functionality is still missing, and WotC...

The Ten Commandments of Epic Gaming

Since you asked, my response item by item (FWIW) 1. Thou shalt feature Big Battles Not needed, though at Epic level, PC actions should be more and more world-affecting as they advance. Keep in mind, too, that PCs could stay at 30th level for quite some time before retiring. 2. Thou shalt...

    CB to be Updated 12/21

That depends upon whether you are updating data only or changing the data structure. The CB has a fair number of data-only errors and/or is missing data, most of which could surely be fixed without any data structure (aka schema) updates.

    CB to be Updated 12/21

Scheduled updates for new data is fine. It would be nice to see bug fixes (including data errors) fixed a lot more often. I think maybe that will happen now that the stability issues is behind them. There certainly have been some hints that this is the way it will work, we'll know more around...

    CB to be Updated 12/21

Not to mention fixing language bonuses for races and a myriad of other data errors (I think the language thing is just a data error as it is wrong in the on-line compendium, too). What I really want to see is a full list of bugs (including data errors) and evidence that they are working those...

The Dark Times are upon us...

Yeah, but WotC makes themselves such an easy target! Maybe one day their technical people and marketing people will start talking. :hmm:

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

On Disjunction: When my part had that available, we very rarely used it. Only in extremis. Why? Because it not only helped win the battle, but, as a disturbing side effect, destroyed the treasure and put the caster at risk of losing all casting abilities forever (you never knwo when there...

The Legality and Difficulties in Harvesting Compendium Data (Hypothetical)

Fair enough; while it would not be "fair use" is would also likely not be a copyright violation, though that could change depending upon the circumstances.

The Legality and Difficulties in Harvesting Compendium Data (Hypothetical)

That would probably not be a copyright violation (if only used for personal use - it would likely fall into the category of "fair use"), but certainly could violate terms of use or other agreements. If strictly for personal use (only) not too big a deal. If used for any other purpose, it would...
