D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Darkness spell is not dark...

Well technically Shadowy Illumination such as that created by Darkness, is the same as a Candle (which produces shadowy illumination) so if they could see it by close candlelight, I see no reason they couldn't see that stuff in the new "Darkness".

Your review of 3.5 after play-testing

I'm still figuring it out, there are many many many subtle to outright huge changes to many things, from skills and feats to spells and magic items. Much of it I like, but I am still uncertain about many things.

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Darkness questions

As some people have posted, and I am starting to agree with: Darkness makes it hard to use miniatures. Shadows does not. Any questions?

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Darkness spell is not dark...

Another joke is that if you are a rogue who casts darkness on yourself and can see (which everyone can now) the target, even if you have blindsight, you cannot sneak attack them. That's right. Shadowy areas prevent sneak attack... so no sneaking around for rogues! Bad rogues trying to be...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Darkness spell is not dark...

Ummm Darkness and it's big brother only create a "Shadowy area" that provides concealment and allows Hide to be used effectively? This is the 20% miss concealment, meaning you can target beings in darkness no sweat, but have the miss chance. This mean casting Darkness IN a real dark area like a...

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

I read the gaming report site, I think the setting sounds "kewl and rad", with much kiddie appeal, and will not work. It's just me, and I will change my opinion for better or worse as more info comes out. At the least this new setting didn't grab any part of my interest.

[WOTC Setting Search] Do you want to play in a Swashbuckling Steampunk setting?

I don't like the setting from the way it was described at all. It sounds very "kiddie" and I'm really sorry that was their "Big Pick." I can't believe they picked such a weak ass setting. Must have been "flavor of the minute" for the judges or something.

    [3.5] WotC motivation revealed!

Um... there is something that supports it. It's 3 years after release and they are doing it now. Could it be more obvious? I'm not gonna buy these books then get mad in 3 years when they do it again! I'm mad right now! I don't want them to repeat the cycle!

Fraid not. I'm basing it off the folks who actually have the books on the WOTC boards.

    Monte Cook reviews 3.5

I think the scariest thing is that 3.5 was Supposed to be a eratta fix / minor update, and from the WOTC boards is seem that they didn't even get all the eratta from 3.0 fixed. So they added a bunch of stuff, changed a bunch of stuff, but didn't even incorporate all the eratta from 3.0? That...

    [3.5] WotC motivation revealed!

I don't want to get sucked up into D&D:the Gathering. I don't want new Core books every 3 years. I wont support such a thing.

Official responses to 1 min/level Buff spells

Maybe it was just running the RtToEE but the stat thing was a real problem. There really was much talking and even arguing about who was "buffing" who and why didn't the spellcasters just use all their spells to buff up everyone, and then as soon as the buff spells wore off they made sure to be...

    Vexing Psionics Handbook Question

The people having problems with the Psionic Handbook as written, and telling you how powerful the Psion is, show that they have absolutely no actual knowledge of the book or the class. The Psion as written is the most underpowered class ever made for PC's unless you like being a commoner. They...

Yeah I'm a D&D nut sometimes, happy to have had the last question on the 3.5 chat which ended like 2 minutes ago. Here it is. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- wizo_negathael presents the speaker with question #232 from jlxc2: It seems many...

    Disintegrate: Does it affect characters???

Undead are only effected by Fortitude save spells that will effect an object, which Disintegrate clearly does. So it blows them away as well. :)

    Deck of Many Things question!!!

OK one of the cards says "Lose all Treasure and Real Property". The very next one says "Lose all magical Items permanently" OK. So does the first one strip you of treasure and "property" as in Keeps and Houses and such? Or just what you have on your back? Or all of the above? It seems the...

    RPGing and Alcohol.

Lots of Booze and Pot at the table. Never have a problem with people getting too "out of it." Makes it even more fun for the group. I vote YES to alchohol and drugs during D&D!
