I use this approach as well. The PCs get the normal amount of APs whenever they level up (and can do the listed things with them), and I also award them for memorable moments during play -- and the players can nominate each other for AP awards, as well. I like it. :)

You could always do a bit of work on the third standalone Eberron module, Grasp of the Emerald Claw (which is for a 6th level party).

If you're not dead set on minis, you might consider Fiery Dragon's Counter Collection 5: Summoned Creatures set, which includes every beastie on the lists for SM I-IX and SNA I-IX for $20. Their counters rock. :)

I've got nothing to go on but speculation, but this sounds pretty reasonable. Star Wars is popular, and the SWRPG seems to do well, but I don't know that there's enough of a fanbase to keep a regular SWRPG magazine going.

I don't think books with new bolt-on options need this treatment quite as badly as gaming books in general need to speak more generally to ways you can play. If I've seen the bit of advice that says, "choose which PrCs you allow in your game carefully," I don't need to see it again in every book...
