    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Wait a second, do I understand right that the Sleep spell applies the Incapacitated condition - which allows them to move? So an incapacitated flying (or climbing, or swimming) creature doesn't fall?

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

And taking this from today's TM video comments - Otto's Irresistible Dance is now resistible. 😅

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

I am obviously not in the minds of the people who made this change, but all of that was covered with "You might issue a command other than one described here. If you do so, the DM determines how the target behaves."

    D&D (2024) 2024 is out...and yet.....where are the threads?

I thought that's why videos were being taken down - something about showing the actual books, or the stat blocks in them.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

The Command spell now restricts you to a fixed list of commands. I think this is a terrible change, as creative uses of spells is one of the great things about D&D. I think they did this just to make it more easily adapted for Project Sigil. Animate Objects changed, too, in a similar...

    D&D (2024) 2024 is out...and yet.....where are the threads?

I can't think of a good reason why the books can't be shown now that the NDA is lifted and copies have been sold at GenCon. WotC gonna WotC I guess.

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

Making noise louder than a whisper, being found by an enemy's Search action, or casting a spell with a verbal component. Stepping out of cover would make noise louder than a whisper. (This is conjecture.)

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

Good question, can you only be found via the Search action, even if you can be seen? lol this is not a question I anticipated.

They are just concealed. I take the Search action!

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

It seems like hiding grants magical invisibility in these rules.

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

True, it could be an option like Hide, DC 15 stealth.

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

Oh, I just caught that contests/opposed rolls are gone, too. So without the book, I'm concluding there's no way to move silently in 5.24. Meaning any movement while invisible drops the invisible condition.

Quoting Treantmonk, "nowhere is it mentioned what it is for or how it is used."

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

I think the general is that movement makes noise, which drops the condition.

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

Do you mean this like for real for real, or like, haha, the rules suck? I know passive checks are gone but I'm wondering if the Stealth skill defines something like moving silently as part of your movement and making an opposed roll (Stealth vs Perception)?

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

Is there a way to move silently in these new rules?

    D&D (2024) Reworked…revised…redone….but

New content has been delivered as new editions, supplements (optional), and errata (mandatory - for digital, at least). But 5.24 is being defined as something else like a supplemental errata. It's a bit of a paradox - it is both mandatory and optional. If a table is playing the 5.24 rules, those...

D&D (2024) D&D Player's Handbook: When YOU Can Get It!

Well, I don't think we even know when the DDB implementation will be live for building characters. It could be later than the availability of the sourcebook.

D&D (2024) Is anyone going to use the new 2024 backgrounds?

I think the restrictions of the backgrounds will be houseruled out and choosing your ability scores and origin feat will be the norm. It doesn't make sense to go backwards from Tasha's. I'm thinking about ignoring the origin tag for feats, too, because I am used to playing where we start with a...
