How do you mean, the books can’t be shown?I can't think of a good reason why the books can't be shown now that the NDA is lifted and copies have been sold at GenCon. WotC gonna WotC I guess.

They laid down some ground rules, which were basically you can show rules content but no direct screenshots from the book. Watch Treantmonk's videos and he has the relevant rules broken out into black-on-white text shots, retyped word-for-word. Since he already had a whole batch of videos queued up for when the NDA dropped, he clearly understood the rules well in advance, so there's no real excuse for others in the same position not to.Yeah, it's pretty weird too. WoTC gives the DnD Shorts Guy a copy of their new 2024 PHB so that he can look at it and post a YouTube review of it on August 1st. Which he does so in great detail. Then the review goes private.
What was WoTC expecting the DnD Shorts Guy to do? Give praise to all of the 'good' stuff that's in the new PHB and hide all of the 'bad' stuff from everybody? They should have known better.

I thought that's why videos were being taken down - something about showing the actual books, or the stat blocks in them. How do you mean, the books can’t be shown?
It was because of those direct screenshots that I started leaning toward getting the book. They laid down some ground rules, which were basically you can show rules content but no direct screenshots from the book.
I'd guess the sticking point was more likely the art than any of the rules content. It was because of those direct screenshots that I started leaning toward getting the book.If he hadn't shown them, I would have been leaning the other way.
Yeah, Treantmonk has outright said he and a few other creators are intentionally staggering videos to feed the algorithm. Most of the content creators are doing small staggered releases I suspect this is to help with algorithms.
Heh, it really is like the Dead Sea Scroll hoarding was. It feels unethical.Yeah, Treantmonk has outright said he and a few other creators are intentionally staggering videos to feed the algorithm.
That said, anyone who wants to give the nice man $3 on Patreon can access 20 Treantmonk videos right now, with no commercials.
He is going to release it all, just on a Schedule for non-Patrons.Heh, it really is like the Dead Sea Scroll hoarding was. It feels unethical.
Of all people, Treantmonk needs to worry about hoarding the content info the least, because even after I know the Players Handbook content, I will watch his videos anyway − precisely because of his analysis.
