Eberron and the Book of Revelation

Whether you believe in Christianity or not, this thread is mildly interesting. It would be hard to grow up in the West and not have SOME aspect of Christianity/Judaism embedded in your subconscious or conscious mind. Guys like JRR Tolkein and CS Lewis intentionally put numerous analogues and...

What would you like to see expanded/updated for Greyhawk?

I agree with this gentleman a bit. One the one hand, Ive been playing in Greyhawk since the 1983 boxed set and darlene maps so I have a lot of history (course grodog is THE oracle). On the other, hearing that previous gentleman talk about how much he disrespects sean reynolds is silly (rose...

What would you like to see expanded/updated for Greyhawk?

RTOEE definately has some legs on monte's boards! As for computer TOEE, Ive heard a lot of horror stories, but I installed the game with the patches on my new computer and ran it through without much trouble at all, except for a lot of stalling in the fire nodes (graphic intensity?)

If you join a group with 4 players alread?

Why dont you simply play what you want to play rather than try to powergame your way into what you perceive to be an "optimal" party configuration?

Respect to Mr. Gygax and Mr. Arneson

The first part about its is definately true. Im NOT a lawyer but I thought (and the US is the only thing I care about, I know that the Uk has slightly different laws regarding freedom of speech) that slander simply applied to the spoken word and libel to the written word. Strictly from a US...

Respect to Mr. Gygax and Mr. Arneson

What did particle man say that was an "insult"? I suspect that diaglo would cheerfully admit to being a "3.5 basher" wearing it as a badge of his convictions. Did I miss something?

What would you like to see expanded/updated for Greyhawk?

RTOEE sold pretty well based on an old interview I saw. Anecdotally, look at Monte's website under the RTOEE section of the forum and you'll be amazed at the amount of fan participation/posts -- thereby implying a large number of users. In addition, I thought that the TOEE video game was...

Complete Divine: WASTRI god of bigotry AND AMPHIBIANS???

I NEED to know the story behind this guy. How does someone into human supremacy develop a soft spot for toads? This has to be the absolutely most bizarre thing I've ever seen in an "official" d&d book. Wastri rules. Gygax obviously regretted not taking full advantage of wastri's...

    Gygax's views on OGL

numerous articles on enworld and other easily readable sources indicate that mssr. gygax has an extremely eclectic types of gaming going on. hes mentioned that he was interested in trying the cthulu game, he is active in LJ, he published the Hermit, hes working with Troll Lords on several...

    Gygax's views on OGL

It is interesting to hear this from Sean Reynolds who obviously knows more about the inside of wotc than me. If you read my earlier posts, my point was simply that WOTC could CHANGE their overhead structure to be leaner and more focused on modules, etc -- i.e. go from 300 employees to 100 or...

    Gygax's views on OGL

Again, please read what he said. He said that OGL was bad for WOTC and ultimately the industry because of quality issues among other things. Therefore, that does not mean he is a hypocrite for doing it. No one has said he is a 'paragon'. He is not really out of touch. He has said he has...

    Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

Man, I have the wrong hobby! Seriously, what is magic the gathering like? I know it is some kind of card game with a cult following in the late 90s, but Ive really never seen anyone play.

    Gygax's views on OGL

I disagree. (I guess you should have gone further than econ 101). Toyota's Lexus simultaneously has the lowest cost, highest quality (car and customer service) and the highest efficiency in terms of man hours to produce among luxury cars. Toyota also has some of the highest profit margins per...

    Gygax's views on OGL

Actually, mr mason, skipping your concern about whether material outside wotc is inferior (since I dont care), isnt this an argument AGAINST the OGL? In other words, if the OGL encourages talent like Sean Reynolds, monte cook to leave and instead of WOTC claiming 85 cents on the pretax dollar...

    Gygax's views on OGL

claiming that those who are defending some of gygax's points view him as a god is tilting against a straw man since none of us have claimed such powers for him. which tsr business strategy? the gygax strategy or the blume/williams strategy? you should care about who mismanaged tsr because...

    Gygax's views on OGL

High quality does NOT denote high resource expenditure, it denotes efficient results! I dont think your argument is true. Look at my example of autos earlier. Detroit abandoned the "low end", got squeezed into the medium/high end (trucks/suvs) and is presently in the process of losing that...
