    Order of the Stick Haley-speak

Denwa arimasen. Just kidding, I don’t know what you said. I used to speak a little Nihongo but it left me. Just like my two years of high school French and two semesters of college Spanish… Que? I’m quick to learn but I forget just as fast. You should hear my attempt at Gaeilge. ;)

    Dream Campaign?

I'm with you Zappo. Just trying to find a DM and the time to play seems impossible.

    Laws of Nature

The relieving of oneself is not really a topic I would normally like to bring up “in game” either. I usually do what many of you do and that’s assume that the PCs take care of business themselves and “off camera”. However, isn’t it one of the most bothersome aspects of being mortal? It seems...

    Laws of Nature

How many people here, PCs and DMs, have their Players abide by the “laws of nature”? By this I mean eating and drinking regularly, and most importantly, relieving themselves. I for one have a hard time fitting or remembering the latter in my games. I was just wondering who else does and how...

    The Old Strength System (Question)

You are correct. CON HP bonuses helped all classes only up to a certain degree (+2 hp for 16 and greater CON) and only warrior classes could use the bonuses in the parenthesis (+3, +4, etc...) The STR percentile was only used for warrior classes and was part of the benefits of the class.

DMs: How Much of Your Prep Work Never Gets Used??

I would say about 30-50% but I will never run short on ideas now. :p Unused ideas are one thing. What I really hate is when I forget something because I didn’t write it down.!

    AD&D baby!

    The Old Strength System (Question)

There is a difference between ‘perceived’ benefits and actual benefits I agree. I guess the ability score system’s change was the most dramatic for my players and me, mainly because rolling up a character is a very important part of the game. Not to mention it was the first change that they...

    The Old Strength System (Question)

I think that the old system worked better. I mean, having your ability modifiers increase at every two points just doesn’t seem worth wasting a good racial bonus to make a 16 into a 17. Now, back in the day, if you rolled an 18 for Str, you would have the whole table watching you roll the...

    Planet of the Priests

I see a constant struggle for power by men of “similar” faiths. Anguish and oppression will plague the land and hate will transcend class, race or nationality. It will be hard to distinguish good from evil by the lay bystander. The only options are to conform or die a heretic. Good RP value...

Nope. I am a perfect example; I started playing in the eighties… :o

    Old-Fogy Characters

I was going to write a short story about two salty elderly dwarves. It was a blast just to sit down and think about the story, possible leads and character development. Actually, I wouldn’t mind playing them as PCs one bit. Maybe I’ll start again, my son’s still asleep and I should take...

    How have CRPGs influenced RPGs?

I believe that the Computer games have brought more people to the gaming table. For instance, last night I ended up drinking with my neighbor (just by chance actually) and he has been playing many computer RPGs throughout the years and when I told him I played D&D he was completely intrigued...

Where did random hit points come from?

Oh, great. :p It does suck when roll a one for HP. All you have to look forward to is your high CON bonus (if you have one). Unfortunately, that’s part of the game IMO. One of my players has rolled 1's twice while leveling. Poor guy...
