D&D 5E (2014) Ideas for Plants in the Elemental Planes?

you pretty much almost answered your question yourself. Earth some crystalline hybrids, water some algae maybe giant versions.of them, air vines and everything with eposes roots. The only headache I got is with fire. Reasonably nothing could grow there imho. Maybe on the borders to other planes...

D&D 5E (2014) The Domains of Dread, listed by the power of their Dark Lord (using their CR)

In 2e if you managed to do something very evil within RL you could become the next DL but there was not much mechanic about this since this makes you a npc instantly (often already before that on Powers check fail level 5 or 6 already the DM took over your char)

D&D 5E (2014) Which Classic Settings do you think WotC will publish?

Well draj = dragonborn (ofc heavily reskinned!) even i could live with that one. Since DS has some monstrous PC options anyway. Its better than Pterrosaurus orAaracocra or whatever the flyer was that they had already.

D&D 5E (2014) Which Classic Settings do you think WotC will publish?

And oddly enough no one is offended by it in the slightest way, or I have missed it in the forums. Otoh endless discussions why DS or GHK have to include drow halfgnome paladin mutant ninja turtles for "diversity" and because it is the base expectation of the majority of 5e players, and...

D&D 5E (2014) Players Killing Players for stupid reason

Nope. You obviously also should run a session 0 upfront your games to make an in and out of game social contract. Within the in-game rules you should clarify upfront if PVP can happen in your campaign. But also clarify that an alignment change is included. A paladin might become fallen, etc...

D&D 5E (2014) Which Classic Settings do you think WotC will publish?

Really liked your analysis and agree on it except for one point, and although i am a big fan of that setting i do not feel bad about that i think that they will not do DS. Why? For DS i think the The people who are fans split up between 40 + year olds playing the original in the 90s (and maybe...

    D&D 5E (2014) PC Exceptionalism

Even from a purely rules- mechanical point talready the level 1 character is far more than your average level 0 Commoner. He got skills from his class that a commoner simply does not. But your post with your own RL mentioned something very important applying to both RL and in-game. You can be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Can you share your experience with a featless/multiclassless game?

well, cool that you use mc for thematic reasons and not for power play. But this thread is rather about pros and cons of mc/feats if i understood op correct, and not what is perceived as better/only method. It really depends upon what your expectations are for you it is a showstopper, but for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Can you share your experience with a featless/multiclassless game?

well, you obviously like feats. I do also, as a variant and additional challenge for me as dm, and to me they are. But w/o feats/mc you will not get hex/eb sorlocks or similar glass cannons that easy.

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft Previews of Dementlieu, Lamordia, and Har'Akir

it is ok, you clarified it quite good in your last reply, my assumption was partially incorrect. I thought that Slavic names follow the same pattern like Nordic ones, but obviously they don't. My guess is that someone thought it sounds eastern Europe like, and it does sound like it. In the end...

    D&D 5E (2014) Can you share your experience with a featless/multiclassless game?

Well you can put asi into charisma as well, so your fighter gets better social skills.

    D&D 5E (2014) Can you share your experience with a featless/multiclassless game?

Featless: My first campaign was featless, and my next will be eventually. Pro: Simplification, which is always a good thing if you got players who are into RP as much as into fighting. No shenanigans Con: using the standard point buy, people wil have their main stat maxed out quite fast...

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft Previews of Dementlieu, Lamordia, and Har'Akir

Well we got a kind of Poison Ivy and i think a hommage to the hounds of baskerville, we got chickenbone and terror in the 1890s got a great Poe adaption in it (Red death is nearly a 1:1 on Poes story partially). Castles Forlorn box, which i own is a superb idea but nearly impossible to run...

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft Previews of Dementlieu, Lamordia, and Har'Akir

Well since his father was King he was kind of a Zar, compare 2e roots of evil; if someones last name is Anderson that does not imply that his fathers fistname is ,Anders, but it makes it highly likely one of his ancestors had that first name. No native english speaker and haven't found a...

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft Previews of Dementlieu, Lamordia, and Har'Akir

well ravenloft has more of these quasi real world / horror theme namings. e.g. Lamordia sounds like a mediteranean location, but Mord means murder in german. Vlad Drakov has been mentioned, everyone and his mother hearing that name would associate this with vampire. Adam - Adams family anyone...

D&D 5E (2014) How to defeat creatures with legendary actions?

It might be that the intention of 5e's creators to offer a PC are quasi-immortal style is to target younger players (or in general players) who might not take it so well, if their character succumbs. But that is just a guess. I admit you can play 5e that way , that you do not like and...

D&D 5E (2014) How to defeat creatures with legendary actions?

So let us assume a wizard has 55 HP, but he is down to 10, then gets hit by a dragon breath targeting the group for another 70 damage, because he botched the save, is that the DM deliberately attacking downed chars, or a clean instakill, in yur POV?

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft Previews of Dementlieu, Lamordia, and Har'Akir

except it isn't (Strahd maybe i am not familar with that name and to lazy to look it up now), but Zarovich or in different slavic spellings Zarovic (with a hook underneath the c) or Zarewitsch (german) means son of the Zar (or Tsar), the russian emperor. So it is not so made up like you might...

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft Previews of Dementlieu, Lamordia, and Har'Akir

D&D General Discuss: Combat as War in D&D

But that would be unfair as well, unless you allow the PCs also to muster a triple deadly force from time to time, e.g. Mob is a dragon, PCs can effortless summon an army with heavy ballistas to assist them. Well i do that from time to time, although most often i balance encounters so that...
