People have tried scrying with GenCon since there was a GenCon to scry with. Mostly it works if you’re designing a product to sell at GenCon.

My group started dabbling pretty quickly. From D&D to Traveller, Superhero 2044, Arduin, Star Frontiers, Chivalry & Sorcery, Villains & Vigilantes, RuneQuest, Top Secret…we continued cycling back to D&D between and alongside whatever else, but we had fun checking things out.

My version of “not early D&D edition” would be QuestWorlds, or Lords of Gossamer & Shadow, or Loner, or Fate Accelersted. I’d be unlikely to get as close to D&D as Savage Worlds. Just to help folks orient.

I’ve found that I’m a terrible judge of good faith a lot of time. I’ve also found that if I shift my concern to “Does this person reliably give me more stress than they give me rewards (good feeling, interesting ideas, etc)?”, then it doesn’t really matter to me as an individual. It does and...
