New Temple of Elemental Evil Add-On Areas Series By Me

I posted this last Friday on my blog but I couldn't log on here for some reason at the time. Then I got busy with my real work. Anyway, sorry about the delay, here it is a Chapter One of a series for classic Gygax era AD&D that adds locations after you play T1 and T1-4 for levels 7-12 around...

    WotC yanks the rug out

There is always going to be apologists for everything, especially everything that was run under the name "D&D" from the 1980's to the present, you can argue back and forth but the move towards the original formula is a good thing. It may not have the results right now but at the very least it...

    WotC yanks the rug out

Why do I think its good? 1) Its exactly what I asked for (somebody dig up the thread.) 2) This means that there is a movement to make official D&D better. Its a step in the right direction. (Simply put, perhaps the latest version will have less character stat emphasis and more environmental...

    WotC yanks the rug out

Its all burned up. Got rid of it. I don't even haunt D&D forums anymore. Too much drama but in lieu of this unprecedented classic AD&D revival... well, its reason enough.

    WotC yanks the rug out

Specifically, just to clarify, I'm saying my preference was for adventures of the original style and quality. I.e. there is a difference between what D&D was in the 70's and what it was in the 80's and later, etc. after Tsojcanth you'd be hard pressed to find a "drop and play" module again...

    WotC yanks the rug out

I hate to come in here after so many years and be the naysayer on WOTC's side but as long as its going to happen for the first time in a loooong time its really all good. Did I just say that? Well, with the exception of the lack of any adventures of original style and quality for the past 30+...

Making new D&D work for old D&D

Thanks! I'm looking to do this for the fans: 1) Break out your classic Advanced books (Anniversary time, etc.) 2) Get a new module. 3) Print out conversion PDF. 4) 1,2,3...you're playing again. Well feats and skills don't have to be considered. No problem with that. Prestige classes can...

Making new D&D work for old D&D

Hello "new D&D" fans (I should say "newer" rather), I have returned with greetings from the ancient world! ;) Seriously, the "new D&D" is dead to me still. Yes, yes, you've heard it all before. Whatever! I want to turn over a new leaf and start a "2e-3e-3.5e to 1e conversion OGL project"...

    Reviving Greyhawk: A letter-writing campaign.

Whoa! That was derived from a letter that I wrote and was isolated into a question for Sage Advice for Dragon #200. It was a long list of problems that weren't just technical flaws but problems of style and direction of the current D&D game's treatment of Greyhawk in general. The letter also...

Resistance is futile... you will upgrade to 3.5!

Come with me if you want to live! I've been sent back from the future to stop you from converting to 3.5 because there will be a worldwide original AD&D revival in 2005! ;) Hell, those of you here that know me, know that I gave 3rd a big chance but I'm not even going to look at 3.5! When...

    Straight Talk from Gene Weigel

Alright, I'm done with the soapbox. Actually, I have no clue what City of Brass is like. Except for this which everybody has probably seen already: To the City of Brass ;) I'm working on a sourcebook and I can't say jack squat about it until it's finished. But I've put quite a lot into...

    Straight Talk from Gene Weigel

I always knew you were one of those "guvnors". Everybody knows Planescape died because it made the afterlife into an ordinary mundane existence all wrapped up with very unD&D like style and dialogue. How long could that possibly last? It's borderline downright LARP-ish! (Shudder) ;) Psion...

    Straight Talk from Gene Weigel

Well one can also say, "Here we go with the "my world's best" diatribes!" Look, "Greyhawk" isn't about draping names over things like they did with Living Greyhawk. Anyone can do that. Its a lost style of adventure.
