    X,000 (25,000) Users! Huzzah!

Hey hey, congratulations to the Ever-Posting Ooze and to Timothy! I was, alas, far too conservative, and underestimated our growth here at ENWorld, woo. Great stuff, great stuff.

    I want my Prestige classes

I have the exact opposite problem, more or less.. I went and made some organizations with prestige classes and such, and no one wants to take levels in 'em, heh. Well, I should say.. initially they didn't, but eventually they decided the classes looked interesting, so some of them went for it...

D&D meets Internet: My First Time

Wow, I'd forgotten about BITNET. Sweet, sweet BITNET. My first email address was on the ol' bitnet.

Neogi - how have you used them?

Well, Second-Edition-wise, the neogi are all over arcane space. They were a pretty central Spelljammer villain, as those things went. Third-Edition-wise, they're in Monster Manual II. I've used one since the book came out.. immediately after the book was released, since I'm a fan of the...

    Myth of Sarnau

The war of heaven I, Adumbradel Thrice-Golden, Solar General of the Legions of the Sun, Vice-Marshal of the Host, Taural Knight of the Heavenly Fields of the Bull-God set pen to paper on this day of ill-repute, at the Field of Gharaung, in the shadow of the Rim Mountains. As greatest survivor...

    Myth of Sarnau

In the great forests of the world did the elves dwell, and in them they sang and danced, feasted and supped with their great Queen and her attendants. No cities did they build, but instead gentle towns within the wood and by the brook. In the mighty mountains of the world did the dwarves...

    Myth of Sarnau

I just finished writing this document, which is combination creation myth and historical record. Ideally, the PCs will find it in a strange temple on an uncharted island, and it'll detail some information they didn't know. Maybe they won't care, either, but we'll find that out. Anyhow...

    Geomancer

I believe the prestige class that requires the ability to cast Lightning Bolt as a divine spell (which, to be honest, I always thought was kind of silly) is the Hexer.

    [OT] Eastern Seaboard Snowstorm

Well, at present here in Vermont, there's nary a flake as I can see. (here in Burlington, at least). It's not even very cold, clocking in at about 19 degrees. Saturday, however, was 25 below, as Piratecat quite correctly pointed out, and even worse in some parts of the state.

    [Poll] Character Age/Lifespan

Like many others, I use them but rarely. My players seem to really enjoy starting PCs as young as is possible, and just not that much game time passes. I'm thinking next campaign, I'm going to try and get more game time to pass, but I'm not sure how yet.

[Feb] What are you reading now?

At present, King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard. I'm also working on a collection of Raymond Chandler's stories. Other than that, still plugging away at my D&D book collection, hah. I'll also be reading The New Seed-Starters Handbook by Nancy Bubel sometime soonish, but that's for work...

Daredevil Reviewed! [spoilers and so forth]

About the end credits.. was there just the one scene in the hospital? I had a feeling there might be another credits-scroll scene, but my wife wanted to go, heh.

    Daredevil: Yer take!

Heh, I'd have to say thumbs even. It was good enough, but not great. Certainly not bad. Thinking about it, I had a pretty good time, so I'll call it thumbs up.

    Paladin Names

I DM'd a group that once included a paladin, of the following name: Bruce the Seafaring Paladin Feel free to use it, Weapon Focus (Harpoon) optional. (of course, this was in 2nd Edition days, so no Weapon Focus, but it was mighty Bruce the Seafaring Paladin's weapon of choice).

    Ninjas: in or out?

Asian-themed campaign: Ninja good. Anywhere else: Ninja lame.

[OT, Valentine's Day] What are you doing for your sweety?

Sort of, I guess. I got her some seeds and container mix. She'd asked for those, though, so I ordered them separate from consideration for the holiday. Still, they arrived yesterday, so it's fairly close.

Irritating Munchkin tricks your Players try to argue.

Ahh, now that's different.. and I think I may be inclined to agree. With the exception of finding and disarming traps (no full rogue in the party, just a guy with 1 level in the class), my players basically succeed at anything they try (skills-wise), according to the DCs in the Player's...

Irritating Munchkin tricks your Players try to argue.

I dunno.. that makes casting a spell while jumping even harder than casting a spell while an orc is smashing you in the face with a mace. Concentration DC 25 would be the same as trying to cast Burning Hands while taking 14 points of damage.

    [OT] How are you doing?

Oh, most things are fine with me, save I'm mostly unemployed. I'm working, but it's not full time or permanent, nor is the pay all that great, or the work particularly enjoyable. However, it's work, so hey. Been playing D&D a lot, so that's good, though my players are kind of irritating...
