D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

I disagree that a player will always select damage, defensive, & buff spells. There's just so many one can use. A player is already limited. To give presented spells that a player may never use is not helping. And if a player only wants offensive spells , giving other spells may not change...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

I don't think Sorcerers need a themed bonus list, just increase number of spells known. Wizards do not have a domain spell list. Rangers need a complete overhaul, not just domain spells. But that is for a different discussion board

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

Would love to read your changes to the archetypes. Though I prefer a progression to 20 spells known versus bonus spells Also, at first glance For Wild Sorcerer, I would have thought 3rd level Blink better than 2nd level Mirror Image in selection as Blink may or may not work each turn.

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

Do you replace Sorcerous Restoration at another level or modify it? We have at 7th level after short rest regain half of spent sorcery points what's your opinion

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

If they are supposed to be solely a blaster, why are there so many utility and control spells on their spell list? It would have been limited as the Warlocks spell list. They can be the best blaster, but are restricted to it by spells, only restricted by the restraints of spells known and...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

At one table I play, the Sorcerer spells known increases incrementally to 20 at 20th level. The trial ability is Sorcerous Restoration at 7th level, after a short rest you regain half of your Sorcery points used. The justification is that Sorcery points are the bread and butter of the class...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

Yes, classes are mechanically different. Your example of not liking spells for EK is not the same. The Sorcerer is labeled as a blaster and for that reason alone is given fewer spells. And the Metamagic allows them to deal more damage. However, using Metamagic regularly is not beneficial as they...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

That's if you want to play a Sorcerer as a blaster. But what of people who want to play the class differently. Why is it for other classes you can chooses the type of character you want to be but a Sorcerer must be a blaster and nothing else? The player chooses who the character is and the style...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

Yes. Sorry. Meant to say 27. I originally counted all the potential Invocations that involved spells known and accidentally included all instead of the 8 max known. Thank you for correcting me

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

Spells known is the topic Clerics & Land Druids get 20 spells, plus modifier bonus, plus bonus spells making over 30 spells known. Moon Druids know 25 (more if wisdom over 20) Wizards know 20, plus Intelligence modifier. At higher levels, can cast low level spells with no loss of spell slots...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

Sorcery points can only be spread so far. Also not every Sorcerer is a blaster. I chose Sorcerer as it fit best for my character concept. Why penalize because a player for trying to play a character differently. Other spellcasters, both full and 1/2 casters, have other abilities that make it...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do Sorcerers have so few spells compared to other full Casters

Half Caster spells are equal in number to the Sorcerer, while all the other full casters far exceed the Sorcerer. I initially thought that the Warlock shared the same limitations, but then realized I was mistaken. The Warlock has 15 known spells. Through Mystic Arcanum, they gain 1 additional...

    D&D 5E (2014) Spells by damage type

I have found many spell lists based on caster, school, component, etc. But I can't find a list based on damage type. Does anyone have a link or created such a list. I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you

    D&D 5E (2014) Sentinel feat

The Sentinel feat says you get an OA when they leave your 5 foot reach. Even if they take disengage. The way they wrote it allows you to have an OA against mobile feat and fancy footwork

    D&D 5E (2014) Sentinel feat

Thanks I wasn't certain because the Sentinel feat says "Creatures within 5 feet of you provoke opportunity attacks from you EVEN IF they take the Disengage action before leaving your reach." So I took that as OP anyone moves away from you

    D&D 5E (2014) Soooo, the melee ranger?

I agree that many of the core features are fluff and situational. That was why I changed the features and allowed the spell progression to be the same as a paladin 1. Expertise, Natural Explorer(choose 2) 2. Fight style, spells 3. Archetype 4. Score 5. Xtra attack 6. Natural Explorer (choose...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sentinel feat

The feat allows you to make an opportunity attack a creature even if they disengage. Does it also allow you to have an opportunity attack against a character with the Mobile Feat and/or Swashbuckker's Fancy Foot Work?

    D&D 5E (2014) Spell Scrolls

I know spell scrolls can only be used by casters who has the spell in question in their spell list. However, Bards with Magical Secrets can select any spell from any spell list. Does that allow a Bard to use any Spell Scroll? I would think they would

I know thread doesnt belong hear, but few read homebrew. Ranger overhaul

But then he would get an OP on him. Also, depending on movement, he may not be able to hide again as he is in direct sight. I see it as a one time thing with advantage for being hidden, then not usable. Especially if fighting hordes. Still favors Archers far and away Thank you for your...
