Templates: anyone want to take a guess?

My question is does he advise vampires or is he a vampire advisor? See, 4e is too confusing! ;)

New Confessions: The Down & Under Adventurer

I'm voting for magical hard tack, with new improved Scurvy Rules!

    Immediate need for house rules?

Where do you think you are? I'm already house-ruling for 5e.

    Twenty plus one

Personally I don't like them taking Greyhawk's (and to a lesser extant FR's) deities and place-names at all. If they want to use those deities actually publish the setting for it. I'd prefer either new names with no baggage or just ideas on how deities work and possible examples. I'm sorry...

    Best ever Dragon issues?

Agreed to all of your points. The Core Belief and Demonomicon articles were fantastic. Dungeoncraft was a great column. And finally, the Dragon CD is one of my most prized possessions, but even owning it I'd buy an Omnibus DVD. Man, that's a happy thought there indeed, let's get on that Wizards!

Love the Game, Hate the Marketing

Some of us have a very hard time reading substantive items on-line. I'm a long time Dragon and Dungeon fan. Did they always have something I could use? No, of course not, but over the course of their runs they've given me an incredible amount of stuff to use. They moved the magazines...

The Possibility of "Too Fantastic" Fantasy

My biggest problem is that I make more history than I will ever use. I realized a week ago that a world I started building but never got too far in was in fact a POL (tm) setting. I've decided that this world should be my 4th Edition world, and to retire my 20+ year original campaign setting...

The Possibility of "Too Fantastic" Fantasy

RC, I love the sound of your world. It sounds so detailed. Just one question, world-builder to world-builder, did you start at the present and work back or start with the history and see how it fit together. I'm interested because I generally do the latter and find I don't have as many cool...

Have These Basic Questions been answered yet?

Swap that first 14 for a 13 and I've played this. With the 6 in CON. I lasted the whole campaign too and had a blast.

Have These Basic Questions been answered yet?

I mentioned it before but I'll mention it again as a counter balance to some of the philosophy being espoused here. My favorite character was a half-elf fighter/cleric. We rolled 3d6 in order. Since his best scores (13s I believe) were in STR and WIS I decided that this was the best class for...

Have These Basic Questions been answered yet?

Heck, I still roll for Hit Points. It allows some randomness into a character's development. Also I still enjoy the 4d6 drop the lowest, no re-rolls for my character generation.

Memo to all 4th Edition Designers and Developers

I'd accept all of the marketing if it was in leet speech, but that's just me.

D&D 4E So, is WotC going to do a Super Bowl commercial for 4E?

If I were rich, I'd pay to have that commercial shown at the Super Bowl. I wouldn't even change the company thing at the end. Then it would be Grognard Bowl!

Love the Game, Hate the Marketing

Other than some early missteps I've mostly been lightly negative to neutral on the 4e marketing. The only thing that I don't like and its not really a part of 4e marketing is the loss of my beloved Dragon and Dungeon. They were the last magazines I was subscribed to, and now I can only ponder...

D&D 4E Something for the grognards to like about 4E!

OK, now this is just getting me too excited. I've been trying to find subtle ways to implement level names in 3e. I'm sure I'll do it again in 4th.

D&D 4E Something for the grognards to like about 4E!

I agree with this, I've been a huge fan of Orcus for decades. Ok, now my bad grognard side shows. I don't like ToEE and the Vault of the Drow as just generic locations. They are too tied to Greyhawk and there they should remain. I think it would be easier and better if WotC created their...

D&D 4E Something for the grognards to like about 4E!

LOL, I know this is humor but you're actually right. I've always liked the X# designation for modules. They make it easy to figure out where one fits in with another. I even use them on my own homemade modules that only I will see.

    D&D 4E I'm Not Sure I Can Afford 4e

Sorry, it seems my attempt at grand humor failed there. Mea culpa. I just thought the idea of halfling cobblers versus the tradition of barefoot halflings was funny showing I'm perhaps too involved in this hobby. ;) I can see it now. The poor halfling cobbler, living above his dilapidated...

    D&D 4E I'm Not Sure I Can Afford 4e

I look at it this way. I've bought almost every book for every edition since the Red Box, so I'm an old-timer but not an original D&D player. The books can be expensive if you buy them all, but I've found most of the books I've bought were more for ideas then the necessity of play. I think...

Going the traditional Tolkeinesque bare-footed halfling then?
