I'd be interested in playing a ship's doctor sort of character. I have d20 Modern, but not the other two books. Would a non-magical healer be useful, or is magical healing pretty prevalent? 3rd level sounds good to me as well.

I've played in a group that all had rings of the hive mind. The DM basically gave them to us as an in-game rationalization of all the "dude don't agree to that, it's a trap!" and "take a five foot step over there, that way you won't provoke an AoO!" that was going on anyways.

My roommate's doing that for his RPGA character, a half orc barbarian named Furious George. So far the "Furious George Smashy List" is small, but I'm sure it'll grow much larger.

My group has been enjoying Three Dragon Ante lately. There are rules included for using it in a D&D game, though I haven't really looked into them yet.

When you're flat-footed, you also can't make attacks of opportunity (unless you have Combat Reflexes).

What does this have to do with the edition? Fighters dont' have minimum strength scores, like they did in the old days. In fact, it's much more rewarding nowadays to play a dextrous or charasmatic fighter, with the right feats.

That reminds me of the gnomish barbarian I wanted to play who had skill points in Perform(mime). He just keeps getting angrier and angrier at being stuck inside that invisible box...

There's a class in Book of Exalted Deeds whose name escapes me, but it allows you to get the Planar Ally spells as a sorcerer, which then lets you take Thaumaturgist. That'd be an interesting route to take.

I played a game of 2E at Gencon. It was a pretty maddening experience, but mostly because the DM didn't really seem to know the rules very well. I still had fun rolling up a character, and I'd imagine with a good DM it'd be enjoyable. I definitely wouldn't want to run it, though.
