    Create an "Assassin"

There are many, many ways to do this - depending on the method. Traditional stealthy killer? Invisible stalker with class levels in rogue and assassin. Traditional tricksy killer with an elaborate plan? Beguiler. Most effective? Probably a Wizard with, say, scrying, teleport, greater...

    After Swashbuckler . . .

Warblade would be a good option. Plenty on not-boring maneuvers. Good int synergy. Duskblade could be interesting as well, but her caster level won't be great. Scout also combines well with Swashbuckler. I'm a fan of the PHBII variant with a climb speed. -Stuart

    Starting a Gestalt Campaign.

This is one that I'd just love to try. Not only does it synergize, but the synergy works conceptually. Improved feint with a swashbuckler? Of course. Improved feint with a swashbuckler/beguiler? So. Awesome. -Stuart

    A question about a 7-th level character

Depending how set you are on Cleric, you might also want to consider the Crusader from Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords. It does the holy warrior shtick extremely well... and gets 4 skill points/level with a decent skill list. If you want to, you could also take Cleric levels 1-5 and Crusader...

    Most Unique and Fun Class?

Classes that I suspect would be fun, but would need to play in order to find out: 1. Factotum: Flexibility is awesome, but I worry that it might lack coherence. 2. Binder: Extremely flexible in a meta-sense, but fairly limited at any given time. Binders would be more fun for me at higher levels...

    Most Unique and Fun Class?

For me the key to that is (1) always having something to do, (2) not always doing the same thing over and over again, (3) having a set of flexible tools that I can use to solve a variety of problems, (4) not always worrying about being near-death. That said, here's my list: 1) Beguiler - tons...

Paladin with Monk levels: Feasible Character?

If you're going to take a level of Sorcerer, try to get the Ascetic Mage feat in there ASAP - it lets you use Charisma instead of Wisdom for AC (and a few other things that will help a little). Then you don't need to worry about your Wisdom nearly as much... Of course, it is another feat...

Paladin with Monk levels: Feasible Character?

I'm still pondering the feasibility of a Monk/Paladin Ascetic Knight build that includes a level of Sorcerer (picking up, say, Mage Armor, True Strike, and Swift Expeditious Retreat) and Ascetic Mage. Forget about Wisdom and focus on Charisma. -Stuart

Need help with Expedition to Castle Ravenloft character

I'm not too familiar with EtCR, but I assume it involves a lot of undead. This means many Will and Fort saves that you don't want to lose. It also means that you don't want to be touched. Some potentially effective builds for this (excluding paladin): *The ranged warblade - it is a tricky...

    Paladin/Monk

...and is commonly enough house-ruled that talking about both options is justified. -Stuart

    Paladin/Monk

Hmmm.... one strange (and possibly suboptimal, yet interesting) option: Toss in a level of Sorcerer and the Ascetic Mage feat before you move into Paladin. Pick up Mage Armor and use your Charisma instead of Wisdom when calculating AC. Get your Charisma as high as possible - with VoP that...

Mid-Air Legion of Sentinels: does it really work?

Still, the spell description states that a swordfighter appears in each square - not that multiple swordfighters appear in each square at different heights. -Stuart

    Competative low-level Gnome Illusionist?

Ah - you actually want to make an Illusionist Specialist Wizard. That makes it a bit tougher, particularly with the loss of Conjuration, but it should still be doable. Some definites: Immediate Magic from PHBII. A familiar isn't too helpful (though, if you go with a burrowing mammal, it can be...

    Race with Charisma bonus?

I'll second the Beguiler or Bard comment, in particular. Glibness is an awesome spell when used cleverly. -Stuart

Mid-Air Legion of Sentinels: does it really work?

"A ghostly, incorporeal swordfighter appears in each square covered by this spell's area." Square and area... not cube and volume. Most emanations are cones or spheres, but this seems to imply that the emanation is a circle. Also, there is no mention of the sentinels being able to float. On...

    Competative low-level Gnome Illusionist?

A low level Gnome Beguiler is pretty effective. You'll have better HP and AC than a sorcerer or wizard. With Spell Focus: Illusion, cloaked casting, and your gnome bonus to illusion spells, you should have a very, very good DC - and some nice spells with which to use it. -Stuart

    "Predator" build

Yeah. Githyanki would work. Psychic Warrior? I think you could get most/all of the Predator effects that way: Concealing Amorpha, Wall Walker, Ubiquitous Vision, etc. -Stuart

    Paladin of...

Tritherion (the Summoner)? He's Chaotic Good, but the idea fits. One of my favorite PCs was a 2.5ish ed. Cleric/Rogue who was a high priest of Tritherion. He usually hung out on rooftops in the seediest portions of Greyhawk. -Stuart

    Building a beguiler Zhentarim spy

Cool. A beguiler will shine in that sort of a game. The trick will being sure you have something to do while in combat. You certainly have some options - your spells give you a nice mix of battlefield control, individual-incapacitation, and mobility. Improved Feint is VERY nice for a beguiler...
