    D&D 4E 4E and the Low-Fantasy Campaign

I'd work the enhancement bonuses for the weapon/armor/neck items into the character progression, but other than that, its pretty good. It does seem quite possible... though you might want to cherry-pick the rituals as well. Some sound like they're quite high-fantasy, even if they are limited.

These make me cranky. This is setting specific info thats taking up space in a book, and a lot of feat space. Out of all the things that have been mentioned, these make me the least happy, because there just aren't a lot of options for a setting other than the nebulous default one: toss out...

Really. Hmm. Well so much for making that character multi-classed. Hmm

    Speedbumps cost 50k gold

Yep. From the economy article, when going over the course of 25th level, the party should earn over a million GP. 50K is really chump change at that point.

Hooray and hooray, respectively. Though to be fair, D&D has never supported a mobile finesse fighter. At least not well. You certainly couldn't do it effectively with the fighter class.

The pendulum swings back: Humans suck once again

Interesting. In my eyes, humans and half-elves are two of the mechanically better races. Extra at will and feat is definitely worth a stat bump, and the defense bonuses and extra skill are useful in their own right. Half-elves, again, an additional power (and that can be chosen according to...

Ouch. So, 9-13 are 1 point each 14-16 are 2 each 17 is 3 18 is 4 18s are painful. Not sure if they're worth it, considering (if rumors are right about +1 to two stats every 4 levels and +1 to all at 11 and 21) that will leave you with an odd number at level 28. Hmmm.

    Ta, I appreciate it. It actually works out for the KotS characters and the tiefling warlord, which is good. Wouldn't 18 be 15 points? 1 (11) + 1 (12) + 1 (13) + 2 (14) + 2(15) + 2(16) + 3 (17) +3 (18) =15 Orcs sound potentially interesting. Good fighters and warlords, not bad at clerics and...

Ah, a useful question: the point buy system- Starting points, cost for each score, 'typical' number of points you get to spend. Please and thank you.

Oh God the Ads! Stop the Ads!

The top one isn't too bad, but the side ad is just obnoxious since it actually shrinks the message area.

Wow... thats, uh, well, so much better than the Archmage utility. In every single way. You sure it does all of that? Because getting one daily power back as a standard action doesn't even measure against that. At all

I am a bit confused by the elemental power source. The wizard already throws energy around. Also, to one extent or another, can most of the other arcane or divine casters. Primal will probably get in on that action to. So whats the point of this one?

I'm not sure that 'completely crazy', 'compulsively treacherous' and 'indeterminable sexuality' are really useful and appropriate epic destiny features

    KOTS: The After Action Report

I am, very much so (been playing Fantasy for 20 odd years, since third edition, and 40K pretty much from release), and... no, not really. Definitely not the warhammers. You could make a fairly reasonable case for similarities to Necromunda or Mordheim, but even that is a bit of a stretch...

KotS_Zombies question for other DMs_Possible Spolier

Seconded. It doesn't matter much against a defender, but almost anyone else, its a scary situation to be in. I wouldn't want to be a rogue, warlock, wizard, or a ranged focused cleric or ranger and be grabbed by a zombie with more closing in. Its going to be a bad day.

KotS_Zombies question for other DMs_Possible Spolier

The target is immobilized and grants combat advantage to other enemies. So the other zombies do get a bonus to hit him (+2), and he can't move unless he gives spends a move action to try to escape. Not sure if the combat advantage bit is in KotS. Its in the rules compilation stickied at the...

    KOTS: The After Action Report

I think this is a big thing, not the least because there are two sets of quick start rules- a very incomplete one for the players and a somewhat incomplete one for the DM. While its useful for the DM to have his own copy of the rules, the page count this eats is extraordinarily high. And yeah...

Eladrins, Tieflings, Dragonborn Too Far Outside Standard Fantasy?

Do you mean as critters or as PCs? As PCs they tend to be a little too complex. Either ability wise, or, with centaurs and merfolk, you have to make radical changes just to accomodate them.

Clerics need a wis of 20.

Some of the classes have a bit less MAD. Without knowing 100% for certain it looks like the strikers, as a whole, can get away with just 3 stats, though melee rangers will have a problem. The cleric and paladin sort of need 4 (con is marginal, but it helps), and have to dump reflex stats (int...
