    Character Sheet: No Check Boxes?

I'd go with quite a lot of scratch paper, not just a sheet. There seems to be a lot to track, including what type of duration the conditions have.

    Paladin Divine Challenge Fixed

But, with the fighter and paladin marks, the penalties are entirely avoided by attacking the fighter or paladin. And you're going to be fairly close (5 squares of the paladin, and adjacent to the fighter) if you're being marked, close enough to be within striking range. If it were a 'save...

    Opportunity Attacks

Its in the quickstart rules, under 7. Attack! At the bottom of the section.

D&D 4E Highlights from the D&D Convention .... 4E reaction (after over 14 hrs of play)

Interesting read. Though its worth noting that the second wind as a minor action is a dwarf trait, not a fighter trait. Looking over the character sheets, I agree with you about the wizard. It looks... dull, for lack of a better word. The paladin, however, looks fairly effective. I think...

    Saving Throws?

Its pretty random in the first place. Every ongoing effect like this has a 55% chance of ending at the end of the targets turn. Every bonus actually makes it less random- its more and more likely that you shrug off any ongoing effect after one round. Which really makes ongoing effects...

    Paladin Divine Challenge Fixed

Hmm. I wonder then if they similarly changed the requirement for implements, since wotc_miko said that they weren't required, even though the character sheet clearly states they must be in hand for warlocks, wizards and clerics to cast their 'implement' spells.

D&D Experience: Questions YOU Want Answered?

True, I'd was hoping they would work as challenging opponents for low level characters though (as in 1-3). I note they are both chaotic and evil, and have no language of their own. :( I think I do like the page format, however.

Thanks. Ouch. Much higher level than I expected or wanted.

D&D Experience: Questions YOU Want Answered?

To everyone at large: Are there stats for these gnolls up somewhere? And as for a question- any information on noncombat situations?

    Ranger powers- is this correct?

Except they only have proficiency with the hand crossbow, so I expect a short range and lower damage. And without someone else doing something to make that enemy give up combat advantage, the rogue will only get that bonus damage on the first round, if he wins initiative. scholar- right...

So Int does NOT add to skills

It looks like the system encourages you to have two or three dump stats. Since one of two stats appears to be used for defenses, and the classes seem to revolve around a primary stat and two secondary stats, you can leave everything else alone. The better classes will only require one score...

    Ranger powers- is this correct?

Eh. Without rogue or warlock daily 9s to compare it to, it isn't really. Hmm. And the rogue is going to have to get there too, and won't have the rest of the party with him to give him combat advantage. I don't see any significant advantage for the rogue in this- he could tumble through, but...

    Paladin. Disappointing

Well, you don't need to run away, or even leave the room, you can move across the battlefield to some place that particular enemy can't attack you. Flavor wise, it seems wrong, but rules wise, there isn't much reason not to take advantage of it.

    Anything new on gods?

    And possibly everywhere else.

    Ranger powers- is this correct?

Non-strikers at will attacks, I would guess. Though it looks like the rogue is a bit weaker than the warlock or ranger. They can attack reliably at range, and don't need special conditions for their extra damage. The rogue is constantly exposed to a lot more attacks while trying to arrange...

    D&D 4E 4e - Is the Terminology the Problem?

The language they use bothers me as well, but not necessarily these examples. Its more the disconnects between real meanings and game meanings- feats being passive abilities now is a weird disconnect. I find the use of artillery and leaders odd (particularly since the sample cleric is...

    Kobold Minion -- Where?

Sometimes, yes, particularly when there is no way of distinguishing between the two. And yes, plane, I have seen mook rules in other games. I've never liked any of them- largely because of the inconsistency and believability factor. Not that it has any real bearing on their presence in D&D.

    (reverse) Engineering a Rogue?

Most of the classes are working on multiple key ability scores- 3, to be exact, with one primary and 2 secondary, one of which you may be able to neglect. Rogue is the perfect example: Dex, and then str & chr. Warlock seems to be Cha, then Con and ? I hope int, otherwise grabbing that wizard...

    D&D 4E AICN Massawyrm's 4E Review - Part 3

Minis, themselves may not be required, but just looking at the sample characters, you need some sort of grid system, and markers/tokens/whatever to represent creatures and PCs. There is way to much pushing/shifting/teleporting/whatever going on at low level to toss it back into the abstract...

    Kobold Minion -- Where?

Indeed. Having kobolds that can stand up to multiple axe blows and ones that explode if you poke them with a stick makes it better. ... or it makes the game look inconsistent and utterly lacking in believability and verisimilitude.
