WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

Everyday, this threads title becomes more of a joke

D&D 5E (2024) What do you think of the new rules for preparing spells?

It just this weird half measure Vancian, it makes more sense if you actually just go back to Vancian tbh.

D&D 5E (2014) Change the length of the Rests to fit the type of game you wanna run.

In older editions of DnD, Resting/Natural healing defined the type of game, tone and atmosphere of the game. In original editions of DnD, characters get 1 to 3 hp back every FULL DAY of completely resting, doing nothing else, just resting, it could take weeks for your character to get back to...

Level Up (A5E) Do you feel A5E has Addressed the Martial/Class divide sufficiently?

One of A5e's ambitions was addressing the very much hot topic Martial/Caster Gap, without completely changing the fundamental math of 5e, it does this by not only giving martials more options and choices in progression but also giving them a spell-like Maneuver system, allowing them to customize...

WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

Hahahahahaha. No. Both figurative and literally, like DnD which is growing at record speed atm, needs a idiot who will tank the company to try to fit his vision which is awful? lmao

D&D 5E (2014) The adventuring day is based HP/Hit Dice as the primary resource.

i still think those errors are very minor and not far from the actual design

WotC Rumor: OGL will not be supported starting with One D&D

A well-regarded creator for DnD content, who is known to have sources for wizards is currently saying this, and this is super concerning as it will repeat the mistakes of 4E, which lead to the death of third party support for DnD, Would they do something so ridiculous yet again? Now its just...

D&D 5E (2014) The adventuring day is based HP/Hit Dice as the primary resource.

So during one of the many debates on the 6-8 adventuring day balance, apparently there was one comment that caught my attention, that confirmed something fascinating about the math of the adventuring day, its not balanced around class resources, its balanced around HP. Here is a chunk of it that...

D&D General Wilderness Random Encounters were actually supposed to be Random Wilderness Adventures, originally.

People these days talk a lot about how Wilderness Encounters, don't feel reliable to challenge the party on a journey, but recently reading through the original edition of DnD, wilderness encounters were not just random monster fights like the current believe tends ot make you believe, but...

WotC WotC in a small decline as revenue drops by 16% as Hasbro shares hit a new 52-week low

Hasbro profit misses the mark as toy maker faces high inventory and inflation Seems a slight slump for the game, probably just inflation woes, and some issues, with magic but still concerning.

D&D 5E (2024) Arcane/Divine/Primal Spell Lists: Are the Benefits Real?

They are just trying to copy PF2E without anything that actually made it work there, 5e's way is far better and this unnecessarily just feels worse than using it.

D&D 5E (2024) The new playtest Exhaustion rules has already fixed the exploration pillar a lot.

I agree with the concept of the old exhaustion but not the method, because it was too harsh too quickly to where players do not wish to engage with it or take the risk of it ever after a single level of it. It needs to be on a longer stage list, especially for how things in 5e were very hourly.

D&D 5E (2024) The new playtest Exhaustion rules has already fixed the exploration pillar a lot.

The problem with the old exhaustion is that its was far too punishing, and detrimental to the point where the players would never wish to interact with it beyond the first level, limiting choice and also limiting how you can use it, as giving the party Exhaustion beyond level 1 basically meant a...

    D&D 5E (2014) In Search Of: The 5e Dungeon Master's Guide

Honestly the 5e DMG is already a good enough homage to the 1e DMG

D&D 5E (2024) Upcoming One D&D: Unearthed Arcana 'Expert' Classes (Bard, Ranger, Rogue)

Thats not reality, because Monks outside of bonus action movement(which is limited by ki) get no defining key features of Rogue at all.

D&D 5E (2024) Upcoming One D&D: Unearthed Arcana 'Expert' Classes (Bard, Ranger, Rogue)

4 Elements definitely, but honestly if they just retread Tasha's Beast Master, with most Beast Spirit options, i feel like people would be pretty happy.

D&D 5E (2024) Upcoming One D&D: Unearthed Arcana 'Expert' Classes (Bard, Ranger, Rogue)

Monk is a fighter-like class by default, its just the faster, but less health variant, that focuses on Ki resources to do extra cool stuff basically, it has a pretty consistent theme on multi-attacks procing on hits effects though

D&D 5E (2024) Upcoming One D&D: Unearthed Arcana 'Expert' Classes (Bard, Ranger, Rogue)

The Roles have always been in the game still, they have designed 5E like this since inception they are just focusing on it now. Warriors are Fighter-like classes focused on attacks, and health, there are Fighter, Monk, and Barbarian. Experts are Rogue-like classes, focused on versatility and...

D&D 5E (2014) Where are the heirs to the 32 page adventure format?

Yup. The reason empty rooms are important to game design is its supposed to convey that not every room is worth searching, and that searching a room takes time and is a risk(because it can be trapped or have monsters with no treasure). If made with this in mind, it changes the dynamic of the...
