SC2.0 conversions of d20M base classes

Crafty's website is back up. Bought the back-to-basics pdf. The price point 4.50 is great and the dialed down power level for d20 Modern flexibility is interesting. Cthuluesque game is now a little easier. Great product, good job Crafty.

    Sneak Attack vs. DR

Umm. His Rogue is 3rd level and rolls 2d6 (7) for sneak attack damage.

d20 Modern build for the Grammaton Cleric

No offense to the Gunslinger, but I totally disagree with your statement Psi. Modern is generic, sure, but something like the Grammaton Cleric is almost the entire reason you even have advanced classes (Expert Classes for Spycraft). If I was a player in a campaign featuring the kind of over the...

Crafty was updating their forum software and they've been down pretty much all day. Just posting this thread in case they've got any updates they'd like to share if they happen by.

SC2.0 Style NPC Generation For Modern

Ah. So specifically meant to deal with the 5 feat cap. Design decision, your call. Deadly... does seem to need a bit of extra work especially re: things like the remain concious talent. Still, this is a great start.

SC2.0 Style NPC Generation For Modern

This is for Modern, right? So the feats your dealing with are Archaic Weapons Proficiency (Covers basically all Martial-type weapons in one go), Armor Proficiencies (light, medium, heavy), Exotic Melee Weapon Proficiency, Personal Firearms (feat tree). For simplicities sake I just don't see the...

SC2.0 Style NPC Generation For Modern

Heap, if you're going to to adhere to the SC 2.0 paradigm, wherever possible use the tools already created. Since you no longer have to worry about how many 'legal' feats you give a character, a quality like combat training really shouldn't be neccessary. The ability to choose feats for an npc...

SC2.0 Style NPC Generation For Modern

It definitely looks interesting. Playtest this like crazy and you've got an excellent addition to the d20 Modern toolkit. Really liked your Zombies!, mooks example. I'd use this mostly as a quick and more detailed way to get Modern NPC's and Monsters into my PbS game. Might turn out to be better...

    D20 Modern or Spycraft II?

Gotta love OGL :D I'm all in favor of d20 Modern speeding up NPC generation. I'll post my comments in your new thread.

    D20 Modern or Spycraft II?

Re: HeapThaumaturgist vs. Jim Hague...if that is as heated as it gets I'll count myself lucky especially after 7 pages. I don't think anyone was deliberately trying insult anyone. I've found that especially over the internet it is best to cultivate a thick skin and a forgiving attitude. We're...

That's some cool stuff there Pbartender. I especially like the creative way you managed to 'westernize' some of the gear. Whiskey flask stimulants indeed. Good job.

    Help me figure out Spycraft...

Not yet. I think Crafty Games will be going in the direction of putting up all the older Spycraft books into .pdf format, but I'm not sure of the timetable.

    D20 Modern or Spycraft II?

Yep. Got it in one. I wasn't calling out anyone from this thread, which has been remarkably civil. I checked the Spycraft book and the feat names are remarkably standardized and follow that standard pretty closely. The 'flavorful' ones are usually Legacy from 1.0 and will mostly be descriptive...

    Help me figure out Spycraft...

The hardcover, published in 2005 is an AEG production and while great (I own it), represents the first printing of Spycraft 2.0. That is the item available at Amazon.com for the discounted price. The Spycraft 2.0 2nd Printing .pdf (May 2006), was produced by the new company Crafty Games and...

    Help me figure out Spycraft...

AEG never published a vehicle supplement for Spycraft. The corerulebook's gear section was pretty comprehensive. Spycraft II has a gear section that is evem more comprehensive than the original (includes vehicles) and includes robust rules for customization. If you like what you've seen so far...

    D20 Modern or Spycraft II?

I wish this thread had been named d20 Modern & Spycraft II. Both games have much to offer and choosing one -OR- the other isn't really required. As has been repeated, your choice mainly comes down to personal play preferences. Those familiar with both systems like them each for different...

ENWorld, what is best in d20 modern?

See, this is why I asked in the other thread, of these, I own: Blood & Fists, Modern Menace Manual, Modern Player's Companion, Elements of Magic (not mythic earth). What are the other 'wow this is pretty good' offerings. To contribute, I'll add d20 Modern's Urban Arcana to the list, it is a...

Rate X-Men: The Last Stand [no spoilers]

A seven from me. I equate it to Terminator 3, better than I thought it was going to be and definitely had its moments. Had all the elements neccessary to become the seminal superhero movie, execution didn't pan that out.
