    Good Seaside Town Map

Those are excellent! I will also fifth the suggestion of Sandpoint. Go here. It's about 3/4 of the way down to the pdf link (free download).

Monte's World of Darkness - magic system?

I've got it. I like it. The spell system allows you to cast a lot of little effects all day long. As you get better, these become moderate effects. You can generate a whopping boom (if you make your roll) or several moderate booms, but it eventually catches up with you. The only major glitch...

    Argh! Editing ... again

This sounds more like a production problem with whoever oversaw the entire product than the editor. Back cover blurbs do not necessarily arrive at the same time as the main text or even go past an editor. Someone should have caught it. However, it may not have been the editor's responsibility.

In a world where the Gods aren't really Gods at all...

I found problems with the "gods aren't quite gods" campaign in the place you might expect: in character for paladins and clerics. The PCs (despite hints before the game started) in character were not prepared to find out that their gods were...less than gods frankly. However, it's made for some...

    So Russ...

Let's hear it for Morrus! Love, hate or draw on 4E or 3E, the site is fantastic.

    Too Many Abilities?

Yes. Agreed. This will probably sound nitpicky, but players seem to have a more intuitive ability to handle Spring Attack (I move, I hit, I use up the rest of my movement) than Dodge (I have to remember to declare this bonus and declare it on one enemy). There I concur. In theory, this is...

    Too Many Abilities?

Again, I think it's too soon to tell. The fighter can still rely upon "I hit them." Perhaps it's not optomized, but it's still a fair choice. Monsters are supposed to be easier. That's good. It will make room for the abilities of NPCs that may be harder to keep track of (especially all this 1/X...

    Any suggestions for religious festivals?

Consider, Phlebas, the reason behind the festival too. Why is it every ten years? What is being celebrated? Is it religious? Civic? A combination of both? Answering those questions tells you what groups might be involved and why, and then you can extrapolate more from that.

    An end to scry-buff-teleport?

This whole thread seems to have missed the combat example that had the wizard doing a short-range teleport in battle. I think we can assume that at least a dim door variant is in use. Whether the entire Spell Combo Arms Race of Scry-Buff-Teleport remains is of course unknown. And subject to...

    The Empire of the Ghouls

Minimum buy-in for Arabian Nights is $25.00. That lets you get the Empire of the Ghouls option for $37.50. However, back orders for Empire expire after 12/31/2007. So you have less than two months to decide....

Need some adventure suggestions for mini-series campaign

There's a nifty adventure which has maps in the text for every encounter. It's a bit obscure, but available in pdf still. You should be able to purchase it and make your own tiles from it. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=2035&it=1 Crothian's review

At least according to the front page scoop. So, what's next? Lower AC for monster? ;)

    Is it just me...

I've been thinking for the better part of a month now that we're going to see Beta rules ship. After all, why not fix them, put them out in the next year's book, and charge additional $ for it?

    Why I love gamers

A fair point. I would note however that one should be prepared to accept a wider suspension of disbelief within the context of a fantasy game. The more consistent the game world is with its deviations from observed reality the better.

    A Subtle Shift?

Although I'm skeptical and have my reservations, how is it possible to render an informed opinion without a) reading and b) playing the game?

WotC_Rodney's Wizard: Sleep, magic missiles, and dimension door?

So you can short jump teleport at short distances? Did I remember correctly that AoOs were disappearing or getting modified? Here's why. You don't have to move through the intervening spaces. It sounds cool, I have to admit. But we are now definitely not in the Shire Bilbo.

D&D 4E Lack of interst in posting since 4e announcement?

No change for me personally, but it seems to me anecdotally that I saw regular numbers of users hovering over 2000 at any given time up until Gen Con. Post Gen Con, it seems like that's down by about 300. Could be wrong, don't have access to the site stats. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Who Will be The Next Monte...

Will there be one? I don't know if there's a single name associated with Second Edition that carries equivalency to "Monte Cook" or "Gary Gygax". I could be wrong.

    Getting feedback from players

Yes. Limited, specific questions work well. Another option is to get an outside observer to question your players. You can also take notes while DMing about what they get excited about and what the points of confusion or question seem to be.
