    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

I like how the book seems to have way more art in it. Even if much of it is much 'softer' than I'd prefer. And I absolutely hate the Orc racial entry art. Now that they are no longer half-orcs, they are... even more like just soft humans with grey skin and pointy ears? uuuuuuuuuuggggh, it's...

Divine Favor is fine, because it applies to every hit... of your dual-wielding paladin named Nick Vex!

Zephyr is from Xanathar's, so it's the same it's always been.

Yes, and Paladins lost concentration on this and their smites, great news! Meanwhile Rangers got a concentration-less Hail of Thorns and Magic Weapon. Woo...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Divine Favor, for a minute, gives all your weapon attacks +1d4 dmg, no questions asked. Now, also, no concentration needed, only Ranger tears as you pass by them on your animal companion.

    D&D 5E (2024) New stealth rules.

Yep. They should just bite the bullet and say that here's some structured stealth rules for combat. Outside of combat, ask your GM if there's a sneaky approach you could take and if so, what the DC is, and hey DM, usually the DC could be the passive perception of opponents, pls don't be dicky...

I know! It's absolutely horrendous. :D If they didn't change Light property from the playtest, you can also be doing this weapon-juggling while using a shield. As dual-wielding is optional for triple-wielding.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Okay, so... I may have something? I did not manage to read the first half of the PHB's Light property (because it was split over two pages, I just saw the latter half of it)... but... Basically, Dual-Wielder now has nothing to do with the Light property: 'when you take the Attack action on your...

Ah, that's true. It's written differently and clunky. I'll see if I can find the nuPHB Light property.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Dual Wielder's clause for the other weapon is just that it cannot be two-handed. They nerfed a feat that was not strong in the first place, in an edition where they buffed many much better feats (like Warcaster). Dual Wielder is not in a good place, it should get its +1 to AC back.

Padding! Reduce any falling damage by 1d6! Comfortable soles! Reroll one Athletics to move around in the following day! Pants! Save the barbarian's dignity even when he won't!

    D&D 5E (2024) New stealth rules.

I'd have a problem with this part. It's the player's action, they should be the ones rolling. This is exactly why we have/had passive perception!

I KNOW RIGHT Those are already the default for improvised weapon counting as an actual weapon, what is there for you to do.

    D&D 5E (2024) New stealth rules.

I agree, but they long ago decided that Cunning Action means spamming Hide behind the same tree repeatedly... so this, I feel, is a reaction to that (making low-level Stealth-spam unreliable, but now allowing sneaky people to actually move around sneakily, or for melee Rogues to actually...

D&D 5E (2024) Jorphdan flips through the 2024 PHB live.

Thanks for doing this! It's a good way to have a look at, say, the feat chapter (and finally, the spells). Edit: OH NO SKIPPED SPELLS

Crafter, the origin feat. Now that we get to actually look at the PHB, the items they can Fast Craft daily are: Carpenter: Ladder, Torch (just one? omfg) Leatherworker: Case, Pouch Mason: Block and Tackle (just say pulley system) Potter: Jug, Lamp Smith: Ball Bearings, Bucket, Caltrops...

    D&D 5E (2024) New stealth rules.

Treating stealth as a static DC invisibility does work well enough for using it in combat. Now, the believability problems arise when you apply the same rules outside of combat, and that's not what WotC is here for, why aren't you in combat.
