D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

How much does the new baseline 1st level Divine Smite deal?
2d8. Thus average 9. And it's post-hit, but takes a Bonus Action.

Most combats in 5E last 3-4 rounds. Assuming you manage to pre-cast Divine Favor, made 1 attack/round, and hit with every attack, you'd thus do an average of 7.5 to 10 damage with Divine Favor. But that's unlikely to happen.

The only way Favor reliably comes out ahead is if you have 2 attacks per around or more at low levels AND are hitting more than 50% of the time (preferably a lot more) AND you pre-cast it. It's also a lot more likely to be wasted damage, because it's on every attack, whereas you'd only drop Smite if someone was still standing after the hit.

So Divine Favor is significantly improved, but it's still a pretty bad spell.

+1d4 damage
Please delete this, you're misleading people. They're asking about Divine Smite, not Divine Favor.

Summon Fey now flies and Summon Celestials range is now a pure 600 feet not 600 with disadvantage. Mindflayer just replaced Star Spawn. Arcane Burst or Eruption is in, the one that is a cantrip. Elementalism is more useful, but should make it clear what happens if you drink the water.

Is there a full list anywhere of what spells are in the PHB? I'm watching the JoeFudge videos about spell changes, but he doesn't mention unchanged spells
