Comfort withcross gender characters based on your gender

As a GM, I don't mind playing cross gendered NPCs (as a matter of fact, I probably couldn't GM if I wasn't), but I don't allow my players to play cross gendered PCs.

Player Responsibility for the GM's Fun??

Yes and no. I think that the players need only try to enjoy the game as it's intended to be played. When I begin a campaign, I give the players a small prospectus of what the campaign is going to be about (usually delivered orally). It includes a brief synopsis on the world and any setting...

    Looking for Advanced Role-Playing Content

Honestly, and this is just my first opinion after reading a couple pages, it reminds me of the worst parts of AD&D 1e. All the needless overly complex charts for example. Do we really need to track moisture lost as a percent of body water? Is that why you come to the game table every week? I get...

Adventure modules that take place in a theater?

Wow! Thanks guys! These are some great leads!

    Castles in a D&D/Fantasy setting

Ritual magic. It's a fantasy world, embellish from there.

    Castles in a D&D/Fantasy setting

If I was going to take a castle in a fantasy world, I'd put a magic dome over it and keep it there until everyone died of asphyxiation.

Adventure modules that take place in a theater?

Does anyone know of any adventures that take place in a theater or stadium? I'm looking for a jumping off point for a side-quest I'm creating for my Starfinder campaign about the party going to a pop-star's show. Bonus points if it's in a sci-fi, modern, or real world setting! One of my...

I have a very detailed world, but that's not why my game is popular...

As a DM and a Player, I often think too much "awesome stuff" starts diluting the awesomeness. "Awesome stuff" is great for an adventure or two, but when you're running a multi-year campaign, a focus on "awesomeness" can turn the genuinely awesome into the mundane.

Looking for a future (or modern) race track map.

Nice idea Wicht. I might be able to take the image of one of their maps and deck it out with some sci-fi bling. Thanks!

Looking for a future (or modern) race track map.

Thanks Morrus. Yeah, sci-fi maps are hard to get. I am the exact same in that I have a personal horde of various maps for all different types of situations, but they almost always are fantasy. I've actually taken to using fantasy maps and dressing them up sometimes with Sci-Fi flourishes, but in...

Looking for a future (or modern) race track map.

Just as the title says, I'm looking for a future (or modern) race track map for my Starfinder Campaign and I'm not having luck at all. Preferably, I would love to get a race track tile set that I can then build and populate with my own clip assets, but at this point, anything will do. Does...

The AD&D ability score generation method that never was

That's how characters used to be made back in the Gygax days. You rolled 6 numbers and assigned them to the ability scores in the order they came up. Kids these days are spoiled by the points-buy method! Back in my day, we used to have to carve our own dice from a hyena's femur that we hunted...

Advice needed: How to slowly reveal the presence of a hive mind

No, they took the girl to a friend who lives a day away for safety. He's this disgraced knight who raises prize horses out of this run-down mansion on the edge of the woods. He owed the party a favor so they have him watching over the girl. As for the Drider, he will stick to the terms of his...

Advice needed: How to slowly reveal the presence of a hive mind

Thanks again for some more great ideas. Riley37 & TheSword, you guys have really inspired me. To answer a couple questions: Why are the PCs there? My campaign is a sandbox game that narratively keeps the focus on the interaction between three regular guys (the main PCs) trying to strike it...

Advice needed: How to slowly reveal the presence of a hive mind

Brilliant post. Thank you for taking the time to write all that. You have given me some great ideas. The PCs have just reached the point were the hive queen has become aware of them. As a matter of fact, she just recently kidnapped one of the PC's followers to try and learn something about...

Advice needed: How to slowly reveal the presence of a hive mind

So my party is currently delving into this massive spider lair. So far they've been in the upper layers and have been fighting a collection of largely stupid spiders. But what they don't know is that the lair is actually home to a massive spider hive mind led by a spider queen. The hive mind...

I just GMed my 3 year old for the first time!

Wow! I didn't think I'd actually reach you when I necroed this thread, but I figured, what the hey, who knows, maybe I'll get lucky. Guess I rolled a 20 this time! Thank you so much for coming back and sharing this with us!

    Great Map/RPG content Patreons

Hey guys! I'm looking for some great Patreons to back that specialize in RPG content, particularly maps and battle-maps. Patreon's search engine is particularly useless in finding what I'm looking for. I've already backed a couple, may favorite being Jared Blando's, the guy who did the...

I just GMed my 3 year old for the first time!

I really hate to necro such an old old thread, but Rel, if you're still out there, your daughter is probably all the way grown up now. Did your little experiment go anywhere? Did you guys end up playing D&D together as she got older? I would love to hear a follow up!

How old were you when your first GMed an RPG?

I was 10 and I was terrible! I would throw any crazy thing I was interested in at the time into my games. But we all still had a great time and it led to a lifetime of love for the game!
