    [C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

Eh. More like, I looked at the dragon shaman, saw that the auras are "special abilities" of the class and then noticed that the standard classes in C&C also have....why, yes...."special abilities". Doesn't take a brainiac. I was making it more hard than I needed to.

    [C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

Actually, there are the C&C 'special abilities' each class can do. The dragon shaman's aura is just another one of those. I answered my own question, just by looking at the C&C rules, so I think that's the game engine I need to use. ;)

    [C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

#1 - Dragon Shaman is in the Player's HB 2. #2 - I just signed up an hour ago. ;) #3 - I'm looking to C&C because I absolutely hate the combat in 3.5, to the point where I no longer want to run games--too much detail, too much minutia. If I hear the expression "five foot step" or "attack of...

    [C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

So, this thread has me basically 100% sure I'd like to use C&C. I have a copy of the 1st print run (yeah, the one with the bad editing, etc) but I'm unclear about...some stuff. I'm not sure if I understand what I'm not understanding, so I'll likely wait until I get a copy of the 2nd printing...

    [C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

Or maybe just stick to threads that contain topics that interest you more. Err, more than C&C appears to.

    Basic GM mistakes

Well that's easy. Unless you have a dwarven miner in the group or someone with massive ranks in Appraise, you just don't tell them what the metal is. I mean, seriously, if you see a silvery-grey piece of jewelry, can you tell immediately if it's silver, titanium, white gold or iron? Thus...

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

I don't know if you've heard, but actually he's dead. And without trying to piss on the thread, as Hobo indicates, I think it says a lot that we have no idea who M. John Harrison is. (Except Edgewaters up there.)

Character Names - How Do You Come Up With Yours?

First, I very much dislike naming characters "Tim" or "Bob" or...*shudder*..."Drizzt". Cheeeeeeeese-ball. (Although I generally like Salvatore's books, I think most of his character names are kinda stupid.) Elf names are easy to create by looking at Tolkien's books and seeing how he did it...

    Basic GM mistakes

Me too. Here's a few of my observations: #19 (because #4 was done twice!) - You don't have to provide the names of the monsters the players are fighting. There's always some smart-@ss in your group who's gone and memorized every page of every monster stat in the MM. As soon as you announce...

Opinions on Dungeon Crawl Classics #39: DM Screen and Adventure

Here is the post from the Goodman message boards that I wrote as a description of what it contains. Inside jokes are intentional, and you'll have to go to their boards to have full appreciation of them. ;) "The first screen, aptly called Screen #1, has the title "The Ruins of Castle Churo"and...

Waiting for the paycheck to arrive. Then you'll get your pound of flesh from me....in a manner of speaking. MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm sorry no-one has answered you. I don't know either, but maybe a little *bump* will get people looking at this and help you get an answer--?

    [Ravenloft] Homebrew Domains

Arguably, White Wolf's Victorian Age Vampire has better guidance on how to run a moody game set in that time period. I have Cthulhu by Gaslight, and while I wouldn't give it up at any cost (it's a collector's item!), it just doesn't have the guidance you might be looking for. YMMV.

d20 Stats for a Headless Horseman

From Casey Smith's review on d20 Magazine Rack: "If Washington Irvine were alive today, and if he were to play D&D, he'd buy it." Who the f**k is Washington Irvine?!? Hoo boy, people. Wikipedia isn't that hard to Google up.

d20 Stats for a Headless Horseman

From Hobo's sig: 1. You lock the target 2. You bait the line 3. You slowly spread the net, and 4. You catch the man. Awwwww yeah, it's The 242, is what I'm talkin' about. Nice to see a fellow old skooler.

    Better with dip..

Agreed. A player in my group is 3rd level. As soon as I heard he was going to be able to spider climb 24/7 at will with no penalty, I just got pissed. He hasn't even "dipped" and he's a bloody tank. (And I do mean bloody--he wades through enemies like a scythe.) I find it very difficult to...

You might look for a BBC production called "Seven Wonders of the Industrial World". http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/british/victorians/seven_wonders_01.shtml I was able to...umm, download it with help from my 'peers' (wink wink, nudge nudge), and it certainly will improve your appreciation of the...

Yeah, the Fraternity of Shadows is a lovely site, but honestly, I miss the Kargatane. I lurked there every bloody day, was inspired by the story times they posted, and enjoyed the message boards. :: cry ::
