    D&D 3.x Sundering in 3.5

In general, the changes to DR have me both excited and worried about 3.5. I don't want all my players to have to carry around 4 or 5 different weapons. I'm also apprehensive of how monsters with DR will hurt each other. A monster with DR 5/Magic now counts as all attacks being "Magic"? So...

    About Walmart.com and 3.5

Wait a sec... You want to call WALMART Bwah ha ha! Caller - Yes, I'd like your online Customer Service Dept please? Walmart - Sure, I'll be right over. Caller - Excuse me? I want to be transfered to Customer Service. Walmart - OH, sorry I thought you said "Please shoot me in the head".

    Drinking a potion and AoO?

Hmmm... that's probably where I got the (incorrect) idea that potions are easy to hit. This has actually never come up in any of my games before, since most of my players have the good sense to back up 5' before quaffing their potions.

    Readying Attacks

"Partial Charges" make no sense to me whatsoever, so they don't exist in our group. No one has ever adequately explained to me what the heck a partial charge IS. Given the following information... 1) A single attack is a partial action 2) A charge is a FULL action 3) Normally, one can only...

    Drinking a potion and AoO?

Forget about spell level of the potion! I don't have a specific quote from anything, but I believe the DC is simply 10 + Damage Taken. I'm pretty sure that is the actual rule, although it MIGHT be DC 15 + Damage Taken Although I don't know why anyone WOULDN'T direct the attack at the potion...

    Why get the DMG 3.5?

I'm in a similar position with the DMG. There are only a few things I use the DMG for. 1) Treasure generation 2) XP calculation 3) Magic item listings and generation 4) That damned "Starting Wealth" because we never make lvl 1 characters 5) Occasionally calculating cities, city wealth, and...

    Giving hints to a player

Hey, I appreciate all the ideas on how to keep the Cleric focused on his quest! Very great suggestions, and I intend on using some of them... finding another Cleric of Talos who FAILED at the same quest would be interesting... However, I was specifically looking for a way to hint to the player...

    Giving hints to a player

Sorry for the lack of clarification. He's being tasked with the quest to find the amulet, because Talos knows that his journey will take him to the tower where it resides. In that sense, it's a bit of destiny... in that he's GOING to end up in the tower as long as he continues on his current...

    Giving hints to a player

I have a touchy situation coming up in my campaign I'd like some ideas on. Here's the scoop. I have an Evil cleric of Talos who is on a mission for his God. However, he doesn't know what it is, he's just getting pushed in the right direction from time to time. Not too long ago, a crazed and...

Immersed in Green Slime -- How do I Adjudicate This?

I haven't seen Green Slime in any 3E books.. and I missed this whole "green slime" thing in 2nd edition. Is green slime mentioned in any 3E books at all? Which ones?

    Alter Self for Darkvision?

Since when do you not get a Bat's Blindsight ability when Polymorphing? You get all the natural, non-magical abilities of the form you polymorph into. While I'm sure there's lots of monsters out there that have a magical form of Blindsight... a Bat's is completely natural.

    Alter Self for Darkvision?

You got it, Dingleberry. And if you use an actual Blindsight spell to gain Blindsight instead of Alter Self... you don't have to walk around looking like a bad experiment of Mother Nature gone horribly wrong.

Alter Self give you different equipment?

I agree with Hyper. The Sage, if this is where the information was taken, is wrong on this. You can't Alter Self to give yourself claws. You CAN give yourself claws, but they don't grant you any attacks, and they don't do additional damage. Think of them as claws that LOOK like claws... but...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Changes to the Monster Manual

I'm also curious about Dragons. Their DR gets more powerful as they age. Both the amount of damage reduction (5, 10) and the degree (+1, +2) increase. Does this mean that for a Black dragon, for example, we're going to get the following? Young Adult - 5/Magic Mature Adult - 10/Magic Very Old...

    Alter Self for Darkvision?

So what? Fly is a 3rd level spell too, and Alter-self can almost replicate that effect as well. You hadn't posted the full text of the "Embrace the Wild" spell, but I'm betting you don't have to grow tremendous ears and a scrunchy bat-nose for the effect to work, like you would have to do for...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Changes to the Monster Manual

With the changes in DR... I'm curious how monsters are going to work. That's my biggest, and really ONLY qualm about 3.5. How it works in 3.0: Creatures have high DR which is bypassed by increasingly powerful weapons - usually silver, +1, +2, etc.. How it will be in 3.5: Creatures have a...

Wall of Thorns vs. a red dragon: did we do this right?

In that case I guess it depends on whether you're dealing with a Dragon old enough to cast Dispel Magic

    Alter Self for Darkvision?

I don't see any reason why someone couldn't Alter Self to gain a Bat's Blindsight ability. You'd have to transform your face into a giant Bat-face to do it though. In order for gills to function properly, you 'd need to alter your lungs in ways you might not properly understand. But you're...

Alter Self give you different equipment?

Great analogy Belbarrus! So when players ask you if they can use "Alter Self" to do something, just put it through the "Mystique test". Can Mystique do it? If not, it's beyond the capabilities of Alter Self. Of course, this doesn't work for the Dagger into a Halberd scenario... because it is...

Alter Self give you different equipment?

Your new equipment functions just like your old equipment. You basically end up with a "Halberd-Shaped" dagger. It's still a dagger... it's just shaped like a Halberd. So, it uses the dagger's proficiency, damage, critical threat, etc. However, I could see allowing you to gain some of the...
