    D&D 5E (2014) Tanks and Walls

When Vampire the Masquerade came out in 1991, I remember having a long discussion about which of Brujah or Gangrel were the 'Tank Class'. So it was definitely in common usage before then. I always got the impression it was war-gaming slang that had moved over to RPGs.

D&D 5E (2014) A WOTC 5e Warlord That Would Be Acceptable To Skeptics

Instead of giving 'Warlords' an ability to grant allies additional actions, would some sort of 'Leadership Aura' work? I.e. all allies within a certain radius of the Warlord does +2 Damage on all their Attacks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spider monk

It really depends how your GM interprets 'Physically capable of doing so', but otherwise it looks pretty legit.

    Beast Companion as a Feat?

The key difference to me is that Tavern Brawler represents skills intrinsic to your person, while getting a Pet/Henchman/Steed is external. It would be the equivalent of adding a Feat that gave you a +1 Sword. I think its far better to let the GM worry about what companions a player can have...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Another New Ranger Variant

Probably worth clarifying that in 5e there is strictly no such thing as a 'Move Action', On your turn you get an 'Action' and you get to 'Move'.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Another New Ranger Variant

Here are the latest two: Question: "@jtburling love the new UA. Can you move on the turn provided by Ambuscade?" Answer: yes — Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) September 9, 2015 Question: @nadaval6the special extra turn of the UA ranger, does it have a move, interact with object, and bonus action...

Mearls has repeatedly said you get to move as part of the Ambuscade on twitter.

D&D 5E (2014) The Village of Forest green - free resource

This is pretty impressive for free resource. It could possibly be improved by working out the Challenge of the NPCs/Creatures.

True, but find Steed has no CR based cap, it is purely down to the GM; hence people using it for Pegasi, Triceratops(i?) and Silver Dragons.

Or "(THE DM might allow other animals to be summoned as steeds.)". If they had just let the Beastmaster pet be a wolf, puma, hawk or anything else the DM feels is appropriate, in the same way that Summon Steed works, we would be in a lot better place.

D&D 5E (2014) Pets are unfeasible! Or not.

I do think some sort of Feat that allows you to somehow enhance a Beast, Elemental, Fiend or even potentially a Humanoid you have already obtained in some way, would be the best way of putting the pet concept in the game.

    ORCUS! EXCLUSIVE! ESCAPIST!

If you are loading the players down with Magic Items and/or Feats, it probably makes sense to do the same with Orcus or any other significant NPC.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monsters for a Second Monster Book

Some more common NPC types would be handy, a stock Bard, Rogue, Monk, etc. Other than that, more Monsters, just keep it simple. Anything rules wise that is not a Monster Stat block belongs in the DMG not the MM.

D&D 5E (2014) What would be your ideal 5E yearly product output?

I have no real use for story arcs. I wouldn't mind an additional Monster Manual every couple of years. Maybe some worldbooks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Current take on GWM/SS

It's a multiple choice poll. Looks like around a 3rd of respondents ticked more than one box. But at the time of writing, 116 of the 165 who voted picked 'The problem isn't that bad; use the feats as-is' - which is approximately 70%.

D&D 5E (2014) What constitutes an "unarmed" strike?

An Unarmed Strike is any attack that uses the Unarmed Strike weapon from the PHB. Any attack that uses a different weapon (such as a Minotaur's Horns) is not an Unarmed Strike.

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting Nazin Redthorn to 5E

personally, given it is a one-off opponent, I would probably go all out and translate the power. Something like: ACTION Infernal Flames (recharge 5 or 6): Creatures within 10 feet of Nazin must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, being Stunned for one turn and taking 11 (3d6) fire...

D&D 5E (2014) Dual wielding and improvised weapons. Technically broken?

Because Unarmed Strike is a weapon, everyone is always considered armed and able to make Opportunity Attacks and the like. Also note that Improvised Weapons do d4 damage only if they bear 'no resemblance to a weapon'. You could, I think quite reasonably, argue that Knuckle Dusters, gauntlets...

D&D 5E (2014) Dual wielding and improvised weapons. Technically broken?

Personally, if someone was kicking with a pair of plate boots on, or headbutting with a helm, or even punching with gauntlets or heavy gloves; I would 100% treat them as improvised weapons. I can not see what else you sensibly could do.
