    Let's read the entire run

It's funny how different the pre-internet world was. This magazine was from 4 months before I started playing D&D. I've mentioned earlier in the thread that we had some photocopied of earlier Dragon articles we used. But we didn't have a gaming store in our town (the bookstore in the mall...

Converting Blood Bowl to 4e... possible?

If you're learning new rules anyway, I'd say just run BloodBowl as-is.

What do you do during Holiday Travels?

Audiobooks for driving, traditional paper books for loafing. I can usually get my wife to agree to listen to a book that I pick (don't ask how - this is the only time I always get my own way and I haven't figured it out yet myself), and I can always find the time to squirrel myself away in a...

    Let's read the entire run

Well, at least it's internally consistent. Someone who loves the action and adventure of drizzit & company would probably be bored to tears by no end of other genre books. :P FWIW I have every Salvatore book and every Jordan book within arms' reach at this very moment.

    Why aren't RPGs poplular

I reckon that we are understimating this particulat element. This is the one that none of my non-gamer peeps understand.

    Let's read the entire run

I used the Art Object and Gem tables out of this book for years and years.

    What 4e does right

I like most of the things mentioned here. The one that I like a lot that hasn't been mentioned is this: I really like the divorcing of Strength from all melee attacks. All I need to see is one Con-based melee class and my life will be complete. :)

    More Dark Sun Goodness

Of course it is. It just makes the old-school version of Athas history a bit less easy to swallow (unless you embrace the NPCs are not following PC rules philosophy, which certainly solves many problems).

    More Dark Sun Goodness

I'm 99% on board with 4E Darksun. My last lingering concern is that one of the central conceits isn't exactly as valid anymore. It's only a minor thing, but it's been bothering me for a while. When the first version of DarkSun came out, mages were the kings of D&D. High level mages clearly...

4E Class Survivor - Round 15 (To determine the final 3)

    Do you mean "dawizard"?

Is it ever a good idea to hit the party?

My barbarian with Agile Opportunist and Heavy Blade Opportunity routinely begs the party wizard to Thunderwave him...

So why are you at ENWorld?

I followed all the 3E rumours here back in '99/'00, then drifted away for a few years. Came back for the 4E rumours, and this time I'm sticking around.

How many from your group(s) use ENW?

I should add too: 20:1 for use of ENWorld, maybe 8:1 for the WotC boards (even there I'm the only real poster, but there are a few lurkers).

    Microsoft Surface used for D&D

I have no problem imagining an admixture of traditional RPG implements (books, paper, dice, miniatures, battle grids) and technological aids (e-books, CB, dice rolling software, and alternate creature and environment visualization schemes) being able to help rather than hinder the roleplaying...

How many cycles of 4E core books will you buy?

I will keep buying Players Handbook N as long as they keep putting them out. I purchased DMG I and MM I but I did not purchase DMG II or MM II, and I won't be purchasing further DMGs unless they really surprise me with some sort of content, or MMs (nothing they put in these will make me buy)...

4E Class Survivor - Round 14 (We now have the final 5)

I'm also at the point where I like everyone left. I like Rogue least (my personal choice for a winner in the end would be Barbarian, but if he doesn't drop this round I'm sure he'll drop next round, so I lose lol).

    Let's read the entire run

I kind of suspect that this is why we never really had anyone play them when I was learning to play. We were all about hack/slash, but not at all about tactics or strategy. Anyone who tried a MU ended up a steaming pile of goo early in the first session (unless playing a multi-classed gish of...

How were you introduced to RPGs?

Went to a new school for high school, joined up with an existing group by early October. I have no exact memory of first broaching the subject (was I invited, or did I ask to join for instance?), but it was very natural for me. Zero to king of the munchkins* in about 2 weeks. *I still hold my...

Do you lament the lack of third-party or fan material?

Answer to question in thread topic: no. But then, I'm a reasonably uncommon corner case. I (only) play RPGA games, so other than a brief time early in the decade when the RPGA had a couple of 3PP campaigns, I've never had much actual use for 3PP stuff (although I approve of the idea in general).
