Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

I feel like with the playtest and sessions played between the playtest, launch, and the present, I've been playing PF2 for over a year. I came to PF2 from PF1. Here's the way I felt after playing. Obviously, this is just my opinion and not demonstrable fact to be widely applied. The action...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Books?

Yes, D&D Beyond is part of the 5e appeal. We used Hero Lab (Classic) for PF1 and were quite happy. Hero Lab Online wasn't up to speed and we were suffering from the lack of DM features.

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Books?

Its hard to list reasons because there's 6-8 people at the table each week with their own opinions. I don't mind reflecting on this, but it wasn't the topic. I don't know that the table was largely upset with combat. I think I'd say character generation was the most common frustration. Out of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Books?

As @dave2008 mentioned, I've been active on the Pathfinder boards for about a year all during the playtest, so there's lots to dig for over there. I'm happy to chat direct through the board's message system, if you want, but don't want to sidetrack this thread.

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Books?

Thanks @Ash Mantle those descriptions help. The group is largely meat-and-potatoes when it comes to races. Exotic races aren't appealing. I don't know about the other players, but for things like Backgrounds, I tend to find pre-published backgrounds to be limiting, so I usually make up my own...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Books?

At first, just official stuff. The person who typically runs the game tends to roll that way because he doesn't have a lot of time to evaluate other sources. I suspect he might continue to use the Golarion setting. If I'm asked to run, I write my own adventures for my own setting. I'm much more...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Books?

One of the games in which I play is coming from PF1 and PF2 and is planning to try out D&D 5e. There are a lot of D&D 5e books. If I wanted to only look at books that involved rules and character options, and avoid books that focused on settings and adventures, what books would you recommend...

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

We've largely completed the Plaguestone adventure, after having done the playtest and a couple of homebrew adventures between the playtest and the release of the completed rules. Over beers this weekend, my friend told me that he was bailing on PF2 after this and going to D&D 5e. (We played PF1...

Pathfinder 2 and the game Paizo should have made

I think I would say it is a game for those who want to continue to explore Paizo's Golarion using Paizo's APs or via the Pathfinder Society organized play. I think the rules work best trying to simulate the stories Paizo writes.

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

The guy running our PF2 game says the monsters are cool and lists the Bestiary as a "plus" in his opinion. He likes the layouts and interesting abilities. I believe him. On the player side, we really don't see that. The monsters seem the same as any other game. Occasionally a player will...

    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e

I don't want to be dismissive of your question, but there's already been a lot of discussion about PF2 and there are several established discussions that you could review to see individual opinions. You're going to get a mixed response. As a person with a partially negative view, my advice is...

    Is Pathfinder 2 Paizo's 4E?

D&D 3/3.5 and PF1 has the same issue. Skill Focus was +3 to one kill (you pick), but all of the variations of "Two Skills are +2" had names and filled up pages in books and player/DM mind-space. (Example: "Stealthy Feat.")

    Mad at Paizo?

You don't ultimately have to have a reason beyond emotions. My own struggle is not with Paizo, but with a changing dynamic at the game table. What had been a game group that was all content with one set of rules is now a game group that is split. Its convenient to point to Paizo as the agent...

Pathfinder 2E Leshies Previewed From Lost Omens Character Guide

Yeh, I agree. Its another example of Paizo and I heading in different directions. I seem to be taking some time to get through this conversion, hoping that something will click and I'll like it. I should probably just acknowledge and embrace the fact that isn't going to happen and focus on some...

Pathfinder 2E Leshies Previewed From Lost Omens Character Guide

At least you're laughing in your shock. :) I'll take the "closeminded" criticism. That's fair. But I think its perhaps more of an age thing than a Tolkien thing, at least locally. While I've always been "meh" about Golarion, I've two good friends that really like the world. Both of them...

Thanks. I forgot there were variants with legs.

Pathfinder 2E Leshies Previewed From Lost Omens Character Guide

This image occurred to me while I was walking to a meeting. I seem to recall a Spinal Tap song that said something like "Listen to what the flower people say." Anyways, I can see them as a monster. As PCs... well that will take some adjustment. lol

Pathfinder 2E Leshies Previewed From Lost Omens Character Guide

I... uhh... I feel very out of touch. I'm thinking "they're jumping the shark" and yet the fans on the Paizo board are cheering.

Pathfinder 2E Here's the Cover Art for Pathfinder 2E's April Bestiary 2

I think the Dragon looks more like an illusion. The coloring, body shape, and angled features don't look real. The lizard thing with the daggers doesn't look like a Yuan-Ti to me. It looks like there's a leg with an obvious knee-cap protruding through the cloak in the front. The angle of the...

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

Not if Beyond just disappears. That's one reason I kind of like Hero Lab classic, but even that could be an illusion since it depends on the application talking to authentication servers to check your key in some circumstances. Those companies are technically capable of supporting a nice...
