3PP Release New 3PP release: Thematic Toolkit: Judge, Jury, and Executioner!

And don't forget the Guard in the Adventurer's Guide. I'd consider those four to basically be a "full set."

3PP Release New 3PP release: Thematic Toolkit: Judge, Jury, and Executioner!

As a side note: this thing is big and it is elaborate. A lot of really cool expansions of existing class features (new Furious Critical options, for example) found their way into the design this month. Some exciting build possibilities!

3PP Release New 3PP release: Thematic Toolkit: Judge, Jury, and Executioner!

The new season of Thematic Toolkit releases has begun! To kick off season 2, we've got berserker/herald/warlock as the three classes covered. The theme this month is law, justice, and punishment. Berserkers can become an Executioner who make dealing death into a terrifying spectacle! Heralds...

Level Up (A5E) Question on Wildborn, Ecclesiarch, and other 1/3 casters.

The non-classical spell lists are intentionally there as a design hook. I do remember that from the designer discussions while we were working on the system. So I figured I'd start hanging stuff on them. :)

Level Up (A5E) Question on Wildborn, Ecclesiarch, and other 1/3 casters.

The way that I've always intended for it to work on tertiary casters I write (such as the Ecclesiarch and Sacred Agent) is that the spells that you cast count as spells for the class that is casting them (for the character with the tertiary caster archetype). So for example, the spells picked...

Level Up (A5E) State of the Archetypes

Only most of them. Don't forget Ravine! I haven't seen any new ones recently, but Ravine has an adept archetype, two for rangers, and one for warlocks over on itch.io: Ravine - itch.io

3PP Release NEW 3PP - Crests of Destiny: Heritage Gifts for Fated Figures!

This product right here is a prime example of just how much flexibility there is in the A5E system and how many exciting design hooks to hang new stuff on it has. You couldn't do anything like this with O5E. By the way, the implementation here is absolutely top-notch. Well worth picking up.

Level Up (A5E) State of the Archetypes

The new grimlock lore is my favorite contribution to the core books. But that also means I want to be able to play one, and that turned out to be a thornier puzzle than initially expected. As I said, I'm so glad it worked out in the end.

Level Up (A5E) State of the Archetypes

That went through some iteration. There was a heritage in there at various points, but as it turned out, it works best as a culture. I'm just glad they're in there as a playable option, tbh. I lobbied hard for that and I'm so happy it made the final cut. :)

3PP Release New 3PP release: Thematic Toolkit: Scrapper!

Once a month isn't too bad for a small release like the Thematic Toolkit line, but thank you. I'm glad they continue to be worth getting. :)

3PP Release New 3PP release: Thematic Toolkit: Scrapper!

You are, but it's a timing thing. Let's say you're in the party with someone else who's playing a single-classed adept, berserker, fighter, herald, marshal, ranger, or melee warlock. They will get their second attack at level 5. Even with this, you won't get yours until level 7. That's a long...

Level Up (A5E) State of the Archetypes

Some of those concepts are already in spreadhseets, outlines, etc., but that's a good list. I'll see what I can do.

3PP Release New 3PP Release: Thematic Toolkit: Storyteller!

By the way, I recently did a revisions pass on the old Thematic Toolkits (I was missing a piece of legal text I needed, and I also incorporated some errata and typo fixes) and your improved wording is now in Storyteller. Plus you also got a thank-you on the credits page. :)

Level Up (A5E) State of the Archetypes

My eventual goal is to have so many A5E-specific options that nobody feels obligated to use WotC ones any more. ;) Clarification: note the word "obligated;" there will always be folks that want to run some treasured favorite archetype from a WotC work, and that's fine. I just want there to be...

3PP Release New 3PP release: Thematic Toolkit: Scrapper!

With this, every class in the Adventurer's Guide has been covered once! And for this final entry of the current season, we've got one of the absolute pinnacles of physical combat: adept/fighter. Adepts can train as a Sentry, which makes them into an elite security expert. Able to wield polearms...

Level Up (A5E) A5e is Backwards Compatible with O5e. What if it wasn’t?

Multisubclassing would definitely be fun. I have an idea or two about how one could kind of simulate that by making multiple "half subclasses" and allowing players to pick two at character creation, but that obviously does stone nothing if you want to mix two existing ones.

Level Up (A5E) Cool character concepts with 3PP content in A5E

I mean, does this not sound like a cool mix of John Constantine (played by Reeves) and Mickey (the Lincoln Lawyer) Haller (played by McConaughey)? That's where I got those castings from.
