Game Day mini = Spined Devil

I thought about that, but wanted to avoid bloating my post with potential exceptions. It makes sense that certain creatures would suffer less from the effects of damage, which would be reflected by the rules - or lack thereof. But if I see an inevitable or gelatinous cube with 'bloodied,' I'm...

Game Day mini = Spined Devil

It's probably been brought up before, but I don't like the term 'bloodied,' mainly because so many many things in Dungeons & Dragons don't bleed. Do outsiders even have normal physiologies? Undead, constructs, plants, and elementals certainly don't. Important rules have had weird name in the...

D&D 4E 4e tiefling art vs. previous edition tiefling art?

Oh my. Save that for the far-realm touched creatures. Thus far, I'm slightly apprehensive about how similar the tieflings in concept sketches appear. However, all those sketches look completely awesome, especially Steve Prescott's. I'm confused. I support the notion that tieflings grow more...

    Design & Development: The Warlock

Right. Killing things is only the PRIMARY way in which characters get stronger. Of course Han Solo didn't get his abilities from a supernaturally evil power. He only got the financing to pay for the tools through which he applies his abilities from vanilla evil powers. Unless you think...

    Design & Development: The Warlock

I don't think that clerics in particular railroad a character's flavor any less than warlocks allegedly do. After all, a cleric's abilities, equipment, and outlook are all informed, if not determined, by their deity and church. Should you want to play a cleric, but not a member of an existing...

Who Do You Want Illustrating 4th Ed.?

Hey! I've nothing else to say, so here's a picture of a sentient cactus by the artist.

    Find the Anime Challenge

I could potentially counter both of these points by saying that the image depicts a Valenar Elf from Eberron. So, the eyes are explainable by it's race, and the double scimitar is explained by it's nationality. EDIT: However, I agree that it does resemble anime. Anyway, I love Vinod Rams'...

    So...did Dragon wow you?

Thank you for your comment about my colours, though, in retrospect, I was totally ripping-off Gryffindor House. The gripe about Wizards killing Paizo's magazine is legitimate, though you certainly put it in rather personal terms, but I don't believe that real judgement can be passed until after...

    So...did Dragon wow you?

I think this thread is a bit premature. After all there are only a handful of articles, they haven't started publishing freelance material yet, and - this is key - WE'RE. NOT. PAYING. FOR. ANYTHING. YET. So, I guess the one-fourth or one-third of the neutered startup publication that I'm...

Actual age of the 4th edition player base

I believe that the average age of D&D players is somewhere in the early twenties. I think wizards is trying to attract more of 13-25 year olds to the game. I was introduced as a young teenager to D&D by a friend who started because he liked Diablo.

    Core books cover art

I think they're fighting Orcus from the Monster Manual cover. The way the red dragon on the Dungeon Masters Guide is watching the two adventurers through his orb makes me think that the three together form a little narrative.

Who Do You Want Illustrating 4th Ed.?

Honestly, I'd love to have anyone featured on ConceptArt illustrate for 4th Ed. Those people are frigging phenomenal.

Who Do You Want Illustrating 4th Ed.?

Which illustrators do you want to illustrate 4th Ed.? Are you in love with classic fantasy painting, where the armor isn't ridiculous, the wizards have beards, the poses are static, and realism is the name of the game? Or perhaps you're a student of the new school of fantasy illustration, where...

Redirect to the Exalted page on White Wolf. That, or World of Warcraft's page on Blizzard. EDIT: Otherwise, porn. Gnome porn. Out of spite.

Any Two Things Sound Alike if You're Vague Enough

Many people have said that the 5% of 4th Ed. we've seen reminds them of "MMORPGS" or "anime". These people are wrong. 4th Ed. is clearly modeled after Halo. "That's stupid," you say. "You're probably stupid as well," you say. Well, unbeliever, watch as the glaring light of truth casts off the...

    D&D 4E A humble 4e suggestion

An idea: sell the quiver with the bow. After all, may quivers are designed to hold a bow, along with arrows. I don't believe scabbards should have their own entry in the equipment section. After all, the shapes of scabbards are as varied as the shapes of swords. They should be included with the...

D&D 4E The Business of 4ed Part II: What success would look like

This isn't particularly relevant to the topic. I'm glad, though, that people are using every opportunity to enlighten as to why they're apprehensive about about 4th Ed. Quite frankly, I think 4th Ed. will be financially successful if it is creatively successful. If Wizards offers an exciting...

How much is a "preview" book worth to you?

Well, nothing else in those magazines would be applicable in the edition he was reading previews for, now would it? That's one reason that I prefer 4th Ed. previews aren't being carried in the now-defunct Dragon. I simply have no interest in 3rd Ed. anymore, and issues previewing 4th Ed. would...

How much is a "preview" book worth to you?

I'll buy them if they're fairly inexpensive, especially if they contain design commentaries and concept art and the like. It's certainly preferable to reading through a mess of "CONFIRMED!!!" newsposts on EN World. Hopefully, they'll help me get started on my homebrew campaign setting.

    Hobgoblin Fluff

HAY GUYZ! I FOUND THIS AWESOME 4th ED. CONCEPT ART OF THE NEW SPIDER-BREEDING HOBGOBLINS! In all seriousness, if hobgoblins (changing that name, along with bugbears, in my homebrew) are breeding warbeasts, they should be big mammalian monstrosities like dire wolves and rhinoceroses, not...
