    North Texas Role Playing Convention

Sweet! Just saw that Grodog is running his vision/version of Greyhawk Castle! Seriously bummed to see that all the slots for Stroh and the DCC RPG are filled up. Lesson: Looks like I need to sign up early for next year. Is there open gaming?

    "Great session"? Wait, I'm confused...

This. Almost impossible to come by, but when they HATE your villains, that's when the DM wins D&D. ;)

    "Great session"? Wait, I'm confused...

Congrats! We DMs need to start a support group or something. Buy that man a beer! http://budlight.whipnet.com/mp3/Bud%20Light%20-%20Real%20Men%20of%20Genius%20-%20Mr.%20Cruise%20Ship%20Entertainer.mp3

What are the players expected to provide?

A good attitude. Honesty. Dice and pencils.

    North Texas Role Playing Convention

It seems dedicated the "old school" gaming and games. The list of special guests is impressive (if you started gaming in 1984 or earlier. :) :) :) )

    Whatever happened to Necromancer Games?

I still do pencil and lined paper for my BECMI games, but 4e is DDI. Especially for conventions ("I need 7 pre-gens, asap!) the DDI is a godsend. For our 4e game, the DDI killed any non-WotC character material. We still use Goodman for modules, but that is it. And yes, I feel like a little...

    [Warhammer] Those Scrolly-things

Sorry for the stupid question: In a lot of Warhammer FRPG art, I see bits of tattered scrolls glued/affixed by wax onto armor. Usually the bearer seems a servant of Sigmar, ala the massive warhammer. What is the purpose of these tatters? Are they wards? Talismans? Marques via the emperor...

What games from the early 80's are still being published?

When did R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk makes its appearance? I recall scouring the thin black books in creative writing class. Although I'm not sure I care to defend the latest Cpunk release as a near-variant (even if they copied-pasted some of the text directly over). Edit: 1988 via Wikipedia.

    Whatever happened to Necromancer Games?

This seems a very rational and sensible stance to take.

    Whatever happened to Necromancer Games?

Ditto. A chalk my vote up for "the DDI killed the 3pp star."

If you gaze into the Abyss . . .

Man ... at my table that would be worth a ton of exp .... for the replacement PC. Props to your player.

    D&D 4E 4e and PC/NPC balance

There are a lot of in-world justifications for powers the PCs can never access. They spend their days and nights wandering the world beating up on stuff and hanging out in taverns. If a ninja, who has spent his entire life cloistered in an shinobi training camp, knows how to walk through walls...

If you gaze into the Abyss . . .

First, Ranger Wickett for DM of the year. I like this. Well of Horror instead of Well of Wisdom, but I'd totally bloat the player's ego with his "unique" knowledge ... and then have his own transformed eye/beholder return to wreak havok. Maybe it is two way ... you can see through the eye, but...

24 Million Lapsed D&D Players - Define "Lapsed"

FWIW, I'm a fan of 4E but the term "lapsed" is obnoxious to me. It implies laziness or forgetfulness ("Oops, I let my subscription lapse.") as opposed to an active decision ("I dumped that trollop like a hot potato." "She says your relationship has lapsed.") While many gamer may have indeed...

    Chain Stores And D&D

Skallgrim deserves a raise. We need more like him to keep b&m sales alive. On topic, I was a ToysRUs kid. I'm sure my memory has only a little basis in reality, but I recall a seemingly endless rack of TSR books ... it was like there was no end to the number of modules, supplements and rule...

How strict are you with the rules when you DM?

I'm super strict about Rule Zero. Beyond that, it varies.
