It's a standoff between the ToH series and the Monsternomicon. I think I'll give it to the ToHs, since I've used them much more while the Monsternomicon is mainly just good reading material for me.

They were heavily modified for 3e. I prefer their look and flavor for 3e and I've used them to great effect, but that's just me. :)

Yeah, updating creatures can be... difficult, though adding spellcaster levels to a monster is just as annoying sometimes.
