Angel news on Sci Fi Wire

It definitely came off as Tara trying to console Buffy, and just offering her a possible explanation. The real reason we never hear about, anymore than we hear about what exactly made the Slayer line vulnerable to the First. You know, this is another thing that seemed odd to me. When Spike...

Angel news on Sci Fi Wire

I.e., she didn't come back 'wrong.' The molecular sunburn was one guess, but, like I said, we never hear for sure. The point though was that Spike loved Buffy before he knew he could hurt her, so the former couldn't have depended on the latter.

I saw the MATRIX 2 thread SPOILERS ABOUND

Oh definitely. Gnosticism was surely a big influence on the concept of the Matrix, whether the Wachowski brothers are aware of it directly or not.

I saw the MATRIX 2 thread SPOILERS ABOUND

I just don't think candy that alters the 'code' of your mind could be any more subtle than LSD or MDMA; that coupled with the fact that Neo is perfectly capable of defeating anything used against him inside the Matrix leads me to the opinion that they shouldn't do anything with that particular...

Angel news on Sci Fi Wire

He was in love with Buffy long before he could hurt her. That didn't happen until after she was resurrected. With the shot of him in season 5's finale, after Buffy dove from Glory's tower, I don't see how we can doubt how genuine his love was. Also, we never even hear for sure why he can hurt...

I saw the MATRIX 2 thread SPOILERS ABOUND

It seemed obvious that this was the point while watching the movie, until Neo stopped Smith from doing his replication trick. After that, it doesn't make sense that anything can be done to Neo without him allowing it to happen, hence being aware of it.

Nah, Buffy made that choice. Tweren't Angel.

This Man Is Reading Way Too Much Into X2. "It's all about homosexuality."

No. You haven't been misunderstanding what the comics/movies are about. There's a classic essay titled The Intentional Fallacy some here ought to read. Wherever the inspiration for the story came from, it's not about homosexuality. Not even its authors can say otherwise. Dune wasn't about...

No way! Ed Witten is the coolest, man!

    Eliza Dushku on Conan

True. True. And there was that wierd dancing guy, and I think Siegfried and Roy were on that one too. Craziness all around.

    (Buffy/Highlander) First Evil/ Arihman

Well speaking accurately, they're not equivalent at all. In the Judeo-Christian-Islamic tradition Satan is made by God and is the catalyst for one of the two versions of the fall. In Zoroastrianism Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu made the world together, and which would win out in the end, good...

    Buffy series finale (spoilers)

I *think* it was already mentioned in this thread that W&H were out to get Angel because a vamp with a soul was prophesied to aid the Slayer in averting the end of the world. That vamp would then recieve his humanity back as a reward. Turns out it was Spike, not Angel, but we'll be seeing him...

    (Buffy/Highlander) First Evil/ Arihman

Ahriman is the Zoroastrian Satan. I think I've seen a poster on the boards use an alternate of his name as well (Angra Mainyu). Stupid me, I watched Highlander faithfully all the way from season 1 through the Four Horseman arc and part of the Dark Quickening, then I forgot to watch the darn...

    [OT-NBA] NBA Playoffs

I know, and it would still make me sick... one of the things that still forces basketball into the 'game' category for me, not the 'sport' category. Just because something is doesn't mean it should be. No replays or questioning of the refs' calls is a part of the game too. Again, a stupid...

    Eliza Dushku on Conan

Just depends on the show. People play to the audience. Last Call is a little more rowdy than Conan, which is a little more rowdy than Letterman, which is a little more rowdy than Leno...

    Buffy series finale (spoilers)

Not so much holes as elements that just went completely unexplained. A lot of stuff from left field. All the eps that were a little slow this season could've been sprinkled with bits of information but oh well. I'm still proceeding under the impression that it aint over, so I don't mind the...

    Buffy series finale (spoilers)

The (now defunct) watchers are a different organization though. They knew nothing about the scythe. They may have come from the source, but they sure lost that connection a long time ago. No script for 7.21 online yet and I don't remember exactly what that particular plot device had to say...

    Buffy series finale (spoilers)

It's certainly possible, but the first thing we saw in season 7 was Bringers killing potentials in different places all over the world. The idea was that the few who escaped them found their way to Sunnydale (Giles rounded up a few and brought them too) where Buffy could protect them. So...

    Buffy series finale (spoilers)

Well, the First's plans for Spike were spoiled several episodes before the finale. Remember, when Wood tried to kill him? As for wanting to kill Buffy and the potentials, I think things had to be done in a certain order, otherwise the First couldn't capitalize on the newfound vulnerability of...

    Buffy series finale (spoilers)

I don't think so. While eventually there should be a lot of slayers, the First took care of most of them before Will did her thing. Aside from those that survived the big fight, there shouldn't be more than a handful left around the world. Ones that Bringers never found. I liked the episode...
