Unpolite and happy about it! UPDATED 11/04/05

Well, regardless of his tone, I'd still give him a detailed explaination with specific examples. If he says he's willing to change, then give him one more shot, perhaps.

    Need some ideas to flesh-out a one-shot

It's a one-shot, so I won't be doing too much world-building outside of the settlement and scenerio. I'm not sure what the inspiration was, exactly; I've been wanting to run a one-shot with all of the PCs of the same race, and for some reason for the dwarf scenerio, I pictured grizzled crochety...

    Need some ideas to flesh-out a one-shot

I like this setup ... if they were an adventuring party, then it makes sense that they'd want to meet occasionally to relive old times. That's a good way to seperate them from whatever befalls the settlement.

Wow, there's some great ideas here; thanks! :D

Kickin' it old school -- are you game?

I'd play it for nostalga, if nothing else. I greatly perfer 3.5, but I do remember 1st Edition quite fondly.

    Need some ideas to flesh-out a one-shot

Sometime down the road, I want to run a one-shot where all the characters are extremely old dwarves (venerable age category) who are high-level adventurers who had retired a couple of hundred years ago. Something occurs that forces them to dust-off all of their old adventuring gear and save the...

    Tiny versions of 1E books?

Thanks to everyone that's replied. I should have specified that I am looking for the main 3 books: PH, DMG, and MM. I bet those are the hardest ones to find, too. :(

    Tiny versions of 1E books?

No, I mean the actual unabridged AD&D 1E Player's Handbook, DMG, Monster Manual, etc. shrunk down to a few inches long and wide. I don't remember exact dimentions, but they were small enough to probably fit in a pocket (though probably not really comfortably).

    Tiny versions of 1E books?

I remember way back when, some company made itty-bitty versions of many of the old 1st-edition AD&D books. Does anyone know if these are still sold anywhere? I wasn't able to find them on eBay, at least (though it's possible I didn't use the right search text). It would be fun to have these...

Does anyone NOT use this house rule?

    Yeah, that's what I meant ... I guess I really wasn't clear. :heh:

AD&D 1E The reasons to keep the rules 1e

Oh yeah, I loved the potion miscibility table from the 1E DMG! Oh, and this isn't a reason not to convert, but I also loved the old cartoons that got scattered throughout the books.

Does anyone NOT use this house rule?

The house rule where it does affect skill points in a retroactive fashion, of course! :)

    D&D special edition books

Only if I were buying them, anyway, either for a new edition, or because something happened to my existing books.

Does anyone NOT use this house rule?

I was wondering if anyone doesn't have changes to Intelligence retroactively affect total skill points? The other way seems way too complicated to keep track of, and I can't imagine anyone perferring that. Just wondering.

When will my group ever accept me?

So sorry that telling him went so badly, but it definately sounds like "good riddance" to me. I'm looking forward to hearing to good news, though. I assume that it has something to do with mending fences with the members of your gaming group?

Rules -- when do you break 'em?

I used to wing it more earlier, and follow the rules more closely now than I did before. Part of the reason is the fact that I understand the rules better than I did, previously. For whatever reason, I'm now less likely to fudge die rolls these days as well. I do make use of house rules, but...

    Small Acts of DM Cruelty

Once in a 2e game, my group wanted to find a white dragon to hunt down and kill. They sought out rumors of white dragons in the region, and decided to pursue the one that was described as unusually large. They loaded-up on their anti-cold magic and found the dragon, which doused the party with...

Which comes first? D&D or Geekiness

I didn't vote, since I think both are true: playing D&D can bring-out the inner geek, and many geeky types are drawn to D&D.

Wizards Design Test: Who's going to submit?

Hmm, I didn't think about this aspect. I assume it only refers to work on actual products, but not something like having had an article or adventure published in Dragon or Dungeon?

So in '06 you'll be buying...

    Where's the 2006 stuff listed? I couldn't find it on wizards.com.
