D&D 5E (2014) Do magic missiles automatically hit

I actually used this idea tonight with my 15th level party of heroes -- an archmage with a coterie of 20 apprentices, all of which had magic missile. Casting simultaneously they cast 60 missiles, averaging 210 hp. They aimed it at the summoned elemental, though, not at the PCs -- and anyways...

D&D 5E (2014) as a new DM, how do I handle a group of wanna be thieves?

Oh man, a heist- and con-based adventuring party would be unbelievable amounts of fun. Steal legendary stuff from angry powerful people, then stay alive to enjoy it. I'd be all over this. Leverage makes for a good model. Alternate cons with robberies and vaults, have their enemies gradually...

    D&D 5E (2014) Player's Handbook Binding

Mine has just cracked, too. I'll return it to them if any pages fall out.

    D&D 5E (2014) Quick question about fighter/warlock multiclass

Found it on p.164. They don't stack. Thanks!

    D&D 5E (2014) Quick question about fighter/warlock multiclass

I'd love a reality check. If I have a fighter 5 (getting an extra attack) / warlock 10 with the pact of the blade and the thirsting blade eldritch invocation (attack twice instead of once with your pact weapon), does the warlock attack twice or three times with the pact weapon? I've now talked...

    D&D 5E (2014) Monsters You Miss

I'm "pushing for a froghemoth" RIGHT NOW, if you know what I mean, and I think you do. And to be fair, froghemoths are awesome. As are quicklings, who (along with doppelgangers) are one of my favorite monsters of all time.

Shamanism Domain for 5E Cleric: Critique Requested

We'll be playtesting the feat using 1 hp/lvl. Specifying the non-attack actions makes good sense. If the DMG or other books have others, you may not find all of them appropriate.

Yeah, something like the Time of Troubles! Err. Or not.

    D&D 5E (2014) First Session of HotDQ - WOW, what a meatgrinder

When running mobs of kobolds (or goblins, or what have you), remember two things: - anyone between you and the target gives them +2 AC cover, including your allies. Kobolds not in the front line have a tougher time hitting. - moving through allies counts as difficult terrain. If you need to...

[Dread] Jenga beat up my dice! My results from the indie horror RPG.

Mythago, those sound amazing. Why are you on the other coast again? I love Dead Man walking. I once used it in a game where the PCs were down in Mexico, being hunted around an island resort by a madman. Some of the PCs were huddled around a tiki torch for light, when something rolled in out of...

D&D 4E 4e-->5e Wilden conversion: angry tree demands JUSTICE!

I probably should do three versions but I was pressed for time. And I agree -- those three powers are just thematically weird. I mean, I love the idea of a dryad-like nature avenger, and I like the idea of the creature being able to change its aspect every day, but the result was kind of weird...

Khaalis, I like that -- nice and straightforward.

D&D 4E 4e-->5e Wilden conversion: angry tree demands JUSTICE!

It was in one of the damn 4e splatbooks. The link I gave leads to a decent description of the mechanics, if not all the description. They are apparently newly brought into the world to fight aberrations... not that we play it that way.

Shamanism Domain for 5E Cleric: Critique Requested

Clerics get medium armor and shield, right? I wonder -- would it be appropriate to sub in something like the barbarian or monk ability that grants (for example) +Wis modifier to AC when not wearing any armor? I haven't done any math, but it seems a little less precedent-setting than the totem armor.

D&D 4E 4e-->5e Wilden conversion: angry tree demands JUSTICE!

We have a wilden in our epic-level 4e party, and I'd like to convert her to 5e. Here's my first stab at the race. Gone is the daily shift between aspects; instead, wilden are split between tough and agile aspects. I'm stealing gratuitously from other races, particularly elves. The original...

Shamanism Domain for 5E Cleric: Critique Requested

That feat seems nice and solid to me. It makes getting the feat a bit of a no-brainer for a shaman, however, which may mean it's over-powered. If so, I'd probably reduce the hit point bonus from the feat to 1 hp/lvl.
