How Crunchy is Too Crunchy, For You Personally

Modern D&D and PF are too much, in the wrong places. AD&D is... yeah. I'd say my sweet spot is around B/X clones with expanded, AD&D style, class lists. Or any version of Barbarians of Lemuria with beefier magic/powers options. Or Street Fighter.

D&D General Tech in DnD; What should be included and how much is too much? (+)

My favorite published D&D setting is Spelljammer. I'm more or less a fan of Dragonstar. I played a fair chunk of Urban Arcana in d20 Modern. It depends on the setting. Always thought it was weird how many people have huge problems with primitive guns, while there's late-period ("bulletproof")...

D&D General What Is Your Dream 50th Anniversary Product?

Other people have thoroughly covered my fondest wish-- opening up CC and DMG development for legacy editions-- but I would feel remiss if I did not voice my support for it. I am pretty much not a customer anymore, and this would make me (and a lot of people like me) throw them at least some...

What do you NOT want to use tech for in you TTRPG?

Physical books and in-person play. Don't care about digital dice or digital character sheets, and I don't normally use minis and maps-- if I did, I'd be okay with replacing them with digital tools. But I need to have physical books and I need to play face to face to face around a real table.

D&D General "I have Played in or Run a Campaign Set in the Forgotten Realms" (a poll)

I'm almost always the umpire when I play D&D, and when I've run D&D in the past 15-20 years it's almost always been SJ-based homebrew... or Mario-based homebrew... as those are my favoritest fantasy-type settings. I raid other D&D settings for elements, for concepts and content, but at the end...

Should Ryan Gosling Play Drizzt in future tv or movies?

Uhm... no? He was originally written as an elf, of a species and an ethnicity that has never existed on Earth that has cosmetic features-- eyes, hair, and skin colors among others-- that have never existed singly or in combination in any human population or human being that has ever existed on...

    Most Iconic SF/F Princesses

I ever get someone to run a Legends of Grayskull (or other MOTU) game for me, I've already made it clear that I will be playing Marlena of Earth, First of Her Name, Queen of Eternia, Empress of the Etherian Alliance, Protector of the Honor of Grayskull: She-Ra.

How Do You Like Your Super Hero TTRPG Games/Campaigns?

Light rules, "Modern" Era (early 2000s, honestly; I feel like that Era has ended already), idealistic and genre-affirming. My default setting for a superheroes game is to run Marvel Heroic Roleplaying with the premise (and the homebrew ruleset) of the eXiles comics, except with a broader...

Obvioiusly Leia. Adora from She-Ra. Peach.

D&D General "I have Played in or Run a Campaign Set in the Forgotten Realms" (a poll)

I was about to answer that I have, but not for twenty years or so-- but then I remembered I played a character for two-three sessions in a Waterdeep Dragon Heist game a couple years ago.

Should Ryan Gosling Play Drizzt in future tv or movies?

I have literally never thought about this before, but yeah... if you make Drizzt purple enough, Ryan Gosling would likely be near the top of my list. Chris Evans, Michael B Jordan. Tom Holland. You need someone with range for Drizzt, but you also need someone who can turn it on and off very...

How hard is learning a new TTRPG system?

Not just complexity but organization. Cortex is a very light and simple game, but it's murderous to learn without someone sitting down and just teaching you. AD&D and Palladium are very similar in complexity (and in general), but Palladium's a lot harder to learn because of its organizational...

Using ChatGPT to Convert D&D Material

Didn't come out as nice as I'd hoped.

Using ChatGPT to Convert D&D Material

@Morrus (sorry for doing it twice, won't do it a third) This... is how I use ChatGPT for my psychobilly D&D mashups. Okay. Ground rules. Let's poke around with converting sci-fi aliens to the Spelljammer setting, and moving back and forth between editions. Okay, so... I do this a lot and...

Building a team of Marvel superheroes using ChatGPT.

Holly Carp. There's some really good stuff in here... and then #6. Can't win them all. Nothing I wouldn't have come up with in the same amount of time. Not terrible, but this is kinda where I feel I get the most use out of ChatGPT, because it can just... keep... doing this, one query after...

Building a team of Marvel superheroes using ChatGPT.

This... was a bust. It gave a very good answer for Carnage... and basically repeated the same answer for everyone else. Interestingly.... for everyone but the Hulk, Mayday's approach would be "strategic and methodical" and April's would be "direct and aggressive"-- but for the Hulk, it noted...

Building a team of Marvel superheroes using ChatGPT.

ChatGPT... does this, a lot, and I don't know how to make it stop. Going forward, I'm going to skip such sections... and inform you, gentle reader, when I have done so.

Building a team of Marvel superheroes using ChatGPT.

@Morrus From the originating thread: ChatGPT always finds my ideas "exciting" or something of the sort. I'm sure its programmed to say that for every project its users propose, but this feature genuinely does make me feel more excited about working with it. A+ I forgot to specify that...

What do you use Chat GPT for?

For instance, I've set the following "custom instructions" for all of my interactions: Yes, this works for the purposes of fictional scenarios. I haven't tried pressing it for information that could be useful in real-life crime. I think the apologies are hard-coded. This stipulation doesn't...
