Fifth Age: A Hard(er) Science Fiction conversion for 5e DnD

Alright, got back up with some minor revisions, a slightly tweaked character sheet, and what I have so far for the Hazard Handbook. I have started trying to keep up with a version log, but am not accustomed to this, and undocumented changes will make it in occasionally, I am sure. Current...

Fifth Age: A Hard(er) Science Fiction conversion for 5e DnD

I have just uploaded Fifth Age: A Hard(er) Science Fiction conversion for 5e DnD to the downloads area. It is the dawn of the 24th century, and an interesting point in time for the human race. Fifth Age chronicles the dawn (perhaps more like early mid-morning) of humanity exploring the stars...

Fifth Age: A Hard Science Fiction conversion for 5e DnD

Thank you for the feedback, I am really quite fond of this project. To respond to your points... 1. Well, it's a lot harder than most, and not wholly fantastic like star wars. I was shooting for between a 3 and 4 on the mohs scale. I would like to do a 5, but feel like it is incompatible...

D&D 5E (2014) Could the next book be Advanced D&D?

Take a page or two from the Monstrous Manual, and make it the Perilous Portfolio, perhaps. Maybe one filled with high level challenges, a Legendary Libram.

D&D 5E (2014) Could the next book be Advanced D&D?

We have a Monster Manual and in the past have had a Field Folio, I think we need more like that, but all the good names are taken. What I want is a gathering of humanoid npcs of a wide range of CRs, so I can stock a game of any level with intimidating bodyguards and crack soldiers enforcing...

    Barbarian path: The Skald

Perhaps a built in heroism? Every round he gains CHA bonus in temp hp? That seems powerful compared to frenzy or totem, though.

Low Magic Alternatives: Full 20 level Class, Alternate Ranger

Balanced against normal classes, I think die + wis as a bonus action would be good, letting a ranger heal on the fly while still being a combat force.

Low Magic Alternatives: Full 20 level Class, Alternate Ranger

Basically this. All of these classes are balanced for a super gritty no healing game with little to no magic, especially no healing magic. I would definitely make the ranger's poultice heal more as a single action for a normal fantasy game.

Low Magic Alternatives: Full 20 level Class, Alternate Ranger

In my ongoing war against the evil spell slot, and for my gritty low magic game, I have finalized my version of spell-less ranger. Leaning heavily on Superiority dice, you've seen most of the building blocks this class is made of. Design highlights are additional maneuvers and setting...

    Barbarian path: The Skald

I wanted to give the class more teeth early, but was afraid that too much at third was frontloading. Most of the proficiencies are noncombat and flavor oriented, so it might be fine. I dislike the idea of 10+DEX+CHA not because of the flavor, but rather that it seems like a straight...

    Barbarian path: The Skald

In my ongoing gritty low magic campaign, I have disallowed bards along with the rest of the casters, and have been left with a gap of support type characters. As such, I have allowed the following barbarian path to let the players play support while still being fearsome on the battlefield...

D&D 5E (2014) DM Confessions: What monsters do you overuse?

I overuse the most terrifying monster of all... humans. It might just be how my games tend to go, but humans keep ending up heavily as the opposition for the mid to late game range. Other monsters typically exist as things to be killed for humans or on the way to the humans, and then once...
