    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual 2025 Stat Block Compilation

Well fingers crossed that it is more tougher than weaker. My players are waltzing through my creatures, even when I add more of them to try to adjust.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual 2025 Stat Block Compilation

On a different topic regarding the stat blocks. Did they nerf the creatures?! I thought they would buff them up since they made characters tougher, but some of them seem weaker. The Gelatinous Cube is weaker. Am I the only one that is disappointed that the creatures aren't tougher?

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual 2025 Stat Block Compilation

I have read this whole thread and I am a little baffled that there is any argument here. People are saying that they don't like that they removed the explaination for what AC represents (I don't like it either) and other people are saying it doesn't bother them, and you can just make it up, so...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

I'm honestly not sure how he got his numbers, but as I showed, I was able to get substantially better numbers than him with a simple two-weapon fighting Beast Master using Hunter's Mark in Tier 2, but especially in Tier 3 when Ranger really needed a boost. So Beast Master is the way to go if...

No. You can do either one or the other. You can't do both in the same round.

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

The problem with a Ranger focusing on Shillelagh is that it is a Bonus Action to cast and only lasts a minute. So even if you have Hunter's Mark pre-cast, you can't place it on a target until your second round. So no Hunter's Mark the first round. That said, if you use a ranged attack on the...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

For full transparency, there is the breakdown of the Two-weapon Fighting Beast Master Ranger 12th level damage. Round one. Ranger places Hunter’s Mark as a bonus action, both Ranger and Beast Companion close. Ranger takes the Attack Action and gives their first attack to the Beast who attacks...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

Yes, I think there are a few Ranger builds that could work well. Honestly the build that Treantmonk did for the Beast Master Ranger, longbow and a Beast of the Sky would actaully work pretty well in a game. You are just more likely to be able to make a ranged attack every single round while...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

I think it would be helpful to look at the combat spells available to the Ranger and compare it to the Paladin. For 1st level you have the following: Paladin: Divine Favor, Divine Smite, Searing Smite, Thunderous Smite and Wrathful Smite So a few flavors of Smite. Smite with fire and burn...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

I guess I phrased it in a confusing way, but I didn't actually add the AoE damage. I just listed it for comparison. That's why there are two numbers listed for the levels where I did the AoE damage. The first is AOE the second is single target, and I only included single target in the graph. 9...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

Like Zardnaar pointed out, I am relying on Nick to get a third attack. The more attacks, the more you get out of Hunter's Mark. Here is the math for 5th level: Level 5 Shortsword attack 1 (2d6+4 (11 avg. damage, 7 crit damage), no advantage) 11 x 0.60 = 6.6 7 x 0.05 = 0.4 Shortsword attack 2...

D&D 5E (2014) The 2024 Ranger is Actually Pretty Good (with numbers)

I have been wanting to put this out there for a while. I keep hearing that the Ranger isn’t very good. Usually the complaint revolves around the amount of single-target damage they do. People do seem to accept that the Ranger brings other things to the table, utility, crowd control, and AOE...

Kickstarter's Director of Games on Why The Platform Attracts Lower OGL v1.1 Royalties

I think people are missing how this might actually work for some small creators. I am sure that some work on very slim margins and it is a fee based on total revenue, not just profit. For example, say a creator makes $250,000 revenue on a product with a 10% margin. They would make $25,000 each...

WotC WotC's Chris Perkins On D&D's Inclusivity Processes Going Forward

Sure black and brown people lived in actual medieval Europe, but they were not common. I mean, at some point you have to admit that people evolved differently in different parts of the world, otherwise we would all look the same. So yes, some small minority of people moved from one society to...

WotC WotC's Chris Perkins On D&D's Inclusivity Processes Going Forward

There is too much to reply to individually, but I will start with an admission of where I was probably wrong. My assumption that they only had diverse casts because they were afraid to be called racist is probably incorrect. As others have pointed out, it is far more likely that they just truly...

WotC WotC's Chris Perkins On D&D's Inclusivity Processes Going Forward

The danger here is failing to understand people you disagree with and just labeling them bigots. You don't help them in anyway, you just prevent them from explaining themselves. Shouting people down and "canceling" them does not change their minds. It just pushes them away and they will be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Heroes of Hydellor

"Odd that this one seems newer than the others," Mindra says aloud to herself. She approaches carefully and uses a dagger to try to reveal the shiny object in the decaying purse.

    D&D 5E (2014) Heroes of Hydellor

Since we have some time while Theremin casts his spell and we rest. Mindra will take a little bit of time to thoroughly check the area. Perception and Investigation: 1D20+10 = [9]+10 = 19 1D20+4 = [8]+4 = 12 Not the greatest rolls, but it is what it is. :) Assuming Mindra finds nothing, she...

    D&D 5E (2014) Heroes of Hydellor

Mindra continues to look away and looses another arrow as the creature walks through the door. Shortbow attack with disadvantage: 2D20.LOW(1)+8 = [18, 3]+8 = 11 1D6+5 = [4]+5 = 9 Dang. Missed.
