WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Too little too late. As Sancrosanct just wrote, "The trust has already been broken." Just the fact that they considered this shows that WotC and the OGL can't be relied upon.

Monte Cook Games’ Next Kickstarter Is Ptolus (for 5E and Cypher)

I'd love to buy this for 5e, as I have and love the 3e version, but it's a bit pricey for the option that I'd like. I wish there were a cheaper option for just the main book and 5 Player's Guide in print (with no PDFs). Pledge $220 or more HERO OUTFIT YOUR GAME GROUP! You get Ptolus in print...

OSR Which retroclone/OSR game is closest to AD&D 2E?

It's a Moldvay-Basic retroclone with an option to add AD&D elements.

OSR Which retroclone/OSR game is closest to AD&D 2E?

Hi, I've made a D20 retroclone with 2E in mind. It's available on my website: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Resources & Links Page There's a Player's Handbook, DMG, and Monstrous Manual. It plays much more like 3E or 5E but scales back class abilities to make them more like their AD&D...

AD&D 3?? Perhaps some can help me find this

Hi Daern, I wanted Morale to be handled like other ability checks/saving throws for consistency's sake. It worked well enough BUT use whatever system you like. I'm sure that the old system (which I've totally forgotten) can easily be ported into the rules.

AD&D 3?? Perhaps some can help me find this

BTW, thanks for the head up on the cover artist. I forgot to change the artist name when I changed the cover art. I originally used a Jeff Easley piece BUT changed it to the old Fiend Folio cover.

AD&D 3?? Perhaps some can help me find this

I based this set of rules off of 2nd edition AD&D (monster statblocks, XP awards, treasure tables, and encounter tables). The game uses the d20 system, with bits stolen from C&C, 3rd edition, and 5th edition. The goal was to make a d20 game that somehow felt like classic (A)D&D and that could...

AD&D 3?? Perhaps some can help me find this

Hey, Sorry for the 10 year thread necromancy, but I've completed (and streamlined) the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monstrous Manual for AD&D3. They are all available at: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Resources & Links Page

If you were able to design your own version of D&D, how would you do it?

I'd try to take the best bits of each edition to make an edition of D&D that is highly compatible with AD&D (the edition with my favorite adventures and campaign supplements) but without the baggage of AD&D (various subsystems for task resolution, THACO, level limits for demihumans, etc.). In...

    Blending the D&Ds

"So basically if you made a clone, a new edition, or even a .5 or .75 edition of D&D what would you take? " I'd try to take the best bits of each edition to make an edition of D&D that is highly compatible with AD&D (the edition with my favorite adventures and campaign supplements) but without...

The New Savage Worlds Is Storming Kickstarter

I hope that the final cover is a bit more dynamic. The art isn't bad so much as bland.

    Favorite D&D Retroclone?

Thanks! When I get home from vacation I have to finish proofreading the DMG and then correct any errors I find. Reading through the DMG allowed me to find a few errors in the PHB as well.

    Favorite D&D Retroclone?

I've homebrewed my own "fantasy heartbreaker" rules from C&C, AD&D (particularly 2nd edition), D&D 3.5 and 5, and Basic D&D. So far it's been working really well for my Greyhawk game (I'm running it for some friends and their kids). Here's a link for my houserules: PHB...
