I love the lore and history. The Forgotten Realms feels “lived in”, much like Star Wars. The kitchen sink aspect is a benefit. You can set any type of fantasy scenario in FR. The gods are fun and varied. If you want, there are interesting NPCs to grab. You can also ignore them.

Our group never played 2020. We played several sessions of Red before the organization of the books (or lack there of) and the clunkiness of the rules killed our enthusiasm for the system (not the genre).

The Cyberpunk Red core book is horribly organized and laid out. Combined with the layout of the character sheet, it really killed my enthusiasm for playing it.

There’s a lot to like in there. I’m hoping that they do more to address some of the underlying annoyances with 5E such as problematic spells, better cantrip scaling, borrowing the simplified exhaustion progression from OneD&D (which I’ve see elsewhere), etc. Going to take a while to go through...

I find my enthusiasm waning with the rollback of the exhaustion and uniform subclass progression changes. Why keep something clunky because the new version didn’t reach an overwhelming enthusiastic response. I’d be curious to see what the results would be if there was a direct comparison...

I had the same experience with Rebirth. The latest Marvel change didn’t really wow me. Looking for good comics. If they’re DC / Marvel, that’s a bonus but not a must. Maybe I’ll check out Dawn of DC or work through some “Top # of x” list that are out there.

Anyone else feel like Dexterity is too good in 5E. It affects initiative armor class missile attacks and damage melee attacks and damage (with agile weapons) roughly 1/3 of spell saves Doubt WotC will do anything about it, but I wouldn't mind seeing the love spread to neglected abilities...
