Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder 1.5 rumblings: Corefinder

I jumped off the d20OGL a long time ago. A new heartbreak edition won't get me back in it. The AGE system (Green Ronin) does everything I want using a toolbox approach with which I can substitutes systems (and sub-systems) without breaking the game. Good luck with the project.

    Lesser-known sci-fi settings

Eclipse Phase might do the trick. It's a trans-human post-apoc-event setting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eclipse_Phase I'm curious, which rules set did you choose?

    D&D 5E (2014) 2020 Release Speculation Thread

X2 with Spelljammer and Planescape sections would be an auto-buy. D&D 5e now has enough campaign settings to justify these two travel modes between them.

[Luc Besson] The Fight Element and Valerian

I gave it a 5 when I saw The Fifth Element the first time at the theatre because I thought I was going to see a serious sci-fi movie. I was taken aback. Now I give it a 7. It's good. Besson is the Terry Gilliam of France. Not everything in his movies serves a direct purpose in the plot. They...

[Wargame] Clash of Spears. Antiquities Skirmish Battles

A new low model count skirmish rules system for the Antiquities. Mostly Punic Wars. My friends are playing it and love it. A dynamic rule set with reaction actions and alternate activation. I'm thinking of playing the Greeks. A well made short video that explains the combat system: Fighting...

Crowdfunding News: Age of Antiquity, Book of Beastly Creatures, and more

Indeed! I no longer back physical KS because of that. I might be tempted by the PDF.

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the largest number of PCs you've had in a session?

Prefer 4. More than 5 starts to be a problem for me. Too many channels of communication possible between me and the players, and player with players.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e is Fun to play, as a player

I'm a forever DM. I can only recall playing 2-3 games of Curse of Strahd before the campaign folded. I played a human arcaniste rogue. I liked it a lot. Very different than my 2e gnome thief illusionist. This makes me realize I was never a player in a game of 3e and 4e.

D&D General Violence and D&D: Is "Murderhobo" Essential to D&D?

That is also what I believe in and apply in my campaigns.

D&D General Violence and D&D: Is "Murderhobo" Essential to D&D?

Bad game design: I was talking about Monopoly. Not D&D. ;) But I agree with you. Since the second half of 2e I've been handing out XPs based on the number of hours played. That changes player behaviour completely.

D&D General Violence and D&D: Is "Murderhobo" Essential to D&D?

The lesson I learned at 7 years old is that it's a bad game design. I refused to play it after two games. ;)

D&D General Violence and D&D: Is "Murderhobo" Essential to D&D?

    1) Conflict is necessary to adventure fiction. The DM creates imbalances in the world which trigger potential adventures. 2) D&D has always had Morale rules. Fleeing, surrender and negotiation with the opponents are a thing in my campaigns. This is a roleplaying game after all. 3) Senseless...

[Columbia Games 1983] Hârn World for Hârn Master

Thank you. It's also possible to curate the D&D spell list and only keep what reinforces the setting. As long as the player are okay with it, of course. I never DM games above level 10 anyway.

    Combat as a single roll

Holy Zeus !!! Sounds very cool.

    Combat as a single roll

Off the top of my head. Opposed skill check. Roll under your own combat stat. Quality of the difference between the loser and the winner determines the severity of the outcome.

[Columbia Games 1983] Hârn World for Hârn Master

That is a very good suggestion. It hadn't occurred to me. I own AiME but don't want to use LOTR as the setting because it's too familiar to the players. I'll try with Hârn. Thanks. ;) As a follow up question can you describe the play style and flavour of 3e? Seems to be a crunchy system.

[Columbia Games 1983] Hârn World for Hârn Master

"The world of Hârn first appeared in Hârn (1983) from Columbia Games, which presented the Hârn campaign world as a folio that offered a general overview of a campaign area, the island of Hârn, which was about three times the size of Great Britain. It included background, history, a look of...

Turn it into an "Arthurian Mythic Britain that Never Was" campaign. Look at Romance of the Perilous Lands by Osprey Games, Mythic Britain by design mechanism and Pendragon by Chaosium for guidance and inspiration.
