As an Irishman 😉I would kind of like the bard to be a Druidic order kind of like it was historically. But a skald archetype would be great for a fighter. Maybe a separate minstrel archetype for the rogue.

I allow them only for humans at first level that choose the human variant. I do that as just a way to place humans on par with Demihumans.

This is not a sacred cow issue. This is a deliberate design issue. Although many times I thought getting rid of armor class and just use a defense score of 10+prof bonus +dex bonus and then using armor for damage reduction. But this caused too many problems with other systems.

None. I think multiclass is cheese for power gamers imho. The argument that someone needs it to build the type of character they want to roleplay is bull imho. You asked for my opinion you got it.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a Wizard in an adventuring party with a 20 intelligence and everyone else has an 8 intelligence. My point is that with the standard array I see the same attribute distribution being used almost everything for a given class.

Weapon x versus armor y had nothing to do with thac0. It was an optional in 2E and I think in 1E also. Basically the attack progression was slightly different between 1E and 2E. In 2E a fighter would have had a thac0 of 20 at 1st level and in 1E it would be 19. They also progressed differently...

Even when we play 2Eish we still use the attack table values of 1E instead of the progression given in 2E. We like how the numbers work at certain levels.

Basically my group never noticed demons and devils were not in early ad&d 2E because we had books from earlier edition with them in it.

And better readers than me. I haven’t been able to keep up because of work the last decade or so. Lol. I let them keep me up on things. 😉

I still had my earlier edition books. I really didn’t think about playing with “edition purity” back then. We were comfortable using our 1E books and d&d book with ad&d 2E. It’s not like they were going to come to our house and stop us. Can they do that today?

I must be old. My players have read freaking everything in the science fiction and fantasy genre as well as classical literature and historical. Most of us are pretty good hunters and outdoorsman too.
