Another take on the Ranger class...would love some (a lot) input/opinions/etc

Alacrity feature already offers the an increase in movement by 10 feet.

Another take on the Ranger class...would love some (a lot) input/opinions/etc

Have no clue to what you are trying to say. I am going to assume that you are a person who believes rogue feature should only stay with the rogue. If i am incorrect, I apologize. Rangers are also hunters and trappers of beasts and presumably also hunted by their prey who could also set traps...

Another take on the Ranger class...would love some (a lot) input/opinions/etc

Plan to move swim/climb to 6th level Improved Scout and move the ability of tracking fast pace without penalty to 1st level Natural Explorer. I wanted to make certain to have survival as the chosen proficiency to avoid creating other features with the advantage in survival phrase. The reason...

Another take on the Ranger class...would love some (a lot) input/opinions/etc

Would moving swim and climb elsewhere resolve the issue? If do, where would you suggest I place it where it won't seem to be loaded as I do want the feature to be within the class Do you think it is over loaded elsewhere? A couple of the other features early on are not OP and used in specific...

Another take on the Ranger class...would love some (a lot) input/opinions/etc

I thought it was better The Ranger actually gets the same number of features as the paladin though And the number of abilities in Natural Explorer are equal. Three of them from the original version. One is a weaker version in which I changed never get lost to know which is north I'll look at...

Another take on the Ranger class...would love some (a lot) input/opinions/etc

I'll guess we will disagree. We all have different views of how the Ranger class is written by WoTC. The features in the PHB are based on Favored Terrain and Enemy. Here offering features that will be useful against any creature and all terrains.

Another take on the Ranger class...would love some (a lot) input/opinions/etc

Natural Explorer I agree, it just seemed off to me What if I delete You always know the number of hours left before the next sunrise or sunset. And move "You can follow tracks while moving at a fast pace without penalty." this bullet to Improved Scout at level 6 The Hunter Herbalist side bar...

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WNkWZdAidKuuj272TlnhqM-fw305j-bM/view?usp=sharing Updated file with some revisions Removed Favored Enemy and Favored Terrain component. Ranger starts with 3 known languages. As scouts, you either travel the lands or you, as in the old US west, were scouts for...

Arguments and assumptions against multi classing

Disagreements and frustration can happen even when its actually part of the game as intended and written. Nothing is perfect. Much is talked about prior to game and we then see how it plays out. Like anything, if a person is already pessimistic, then problems will arise regardless.

Arguments and assumptions against multi classing

I can't understand why there are some who are adamant about following what is in the book. Whether multiclass or homebrew, if its not breaking and/or ruining the game and, most importantly, everyone is having fun, who cares. The true purpose of playing is to have friends get together or make...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

For Otiluke's Freezing Sphere, I understand the low rating you gave due to the poor damage and Con save. But don't you think that its huge area of affect (60 feet radius sphere) makes it deserve a higher rating?

Flesh to Stone spell - why the poor rating

But they could use legendary resistance against disintegrate. However, I see the responses that with the Con save combined with the legendary actions of some creatures why the value of the spell falls.

Flesh to Stone spell - why the poor rating

I apologize. I did not intend to be harsh or disrespectful towards you. I was just trying to point out the immibilization part that had the potential to last several rounds if the creature failed on the first save. I do realize (now) there are lower level spells that can do something similar...

Flesh to Stone spell - why the poor rating

Yes, or spell caster humanoids/creatures who would normally have low Con scores would have minions and spells to compensate for lack of mobility, unless you have another caster with Silence spell for example. But again, focusing on certain uses.

Flesh to Stone spell - why the poor rating

Not until now. I see you can get advantage on attacks with a 1st level spell. But also your allies potentially. The main feature I was focusing on was grounding a flying creature or keeping a creature at a distance while attacking it with ranged weapons and spells while possibly preventing it...

Flesh to Stone spell - why the poor rating

I Know the Con save is a negative against it, but I don't agree that you have to wait for 3 fails before it does anything. It is restrained which offers you advantages and the creature disadvantages. Its not paralyzed as the Hold spell, but it still has benefits. Potentially the Hold Monster...

Flesh to Stone spell - why the poor rating

All agree on Mass Suggestion and Contingency are must haves, then variances on Otto's dance, Disintegrate, etc. For Flesh to Stone, whats commented is it is a save or nothing spell, or does no damage for a 6th level spell. I guess I wasn't comparing it to 6th level spells but what the...

Flesh to Stone spell - why the poor rating

Reading through the class guides, most give this spell a poor rating which I don't understand. I know it is a Con save which is not a good save to go against, but if the the creature fails the first save, it is restrained until it succeeds on 3 saves. Its not like other spells in which once it...
