D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana Today: Giant Themed Class Options and Feats

I have only read the barbarian and druid entries, but so far I like it.

D&D 5E (2014) Designing (Neutral)Good Mechanics For Alignment In DnD And Ways To Interact With It (+)

I use alignment as what the PC or NPC is at the moment. Law is about fitting in (although who you are fitting in with may not reflect who is around you), but you want a pat on the head (if only from yourself) for fitting in. Chaos is about standing out. Both of those are based on the notion...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e Lists of Monsters, Spells, Races, Feats, Etc.

I am going to just add a page # in MoM at the end of the monsters' entries. If the hitpoints/stats in MoM are roughly the same as the previous values, I will just change them to the new ones. If they are a lot different (like the hit points demon lords from Out of the Abyss and Tome of Foes)...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e Lists of Monsters, Spells, Races, Feats, Etc.

I finished up Mythos Monsters in version 7.0k on the front page. I started Legendary Games Sea Monsters, but, if Amazon can be believed, I will get Mordenkainen' Monsters of the Multiverse on Tuesday, so I will switch to that when it comes.

    D&D 5E (2014) Explain: Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse

5e is still "rulings over rules" so pick whatever makes you happy. If you feel the need to make things consistent with 5.5, then everything is proficiency bonus, so everything is from 2 to 9, which is a good spell range.

D&D 5E (2014) Give Me Any D&D Monster and I'll Homebrew You A Better Version

The thesslehydra. I figured a D&D could have Cerberus (a bunch of dogs and a snake) and Scylla (wolves and dragons plus one "head" as a humanoid torso) as thesselhydras.

D&D 5E (2014) Let’s Read Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse.

At least until they redo the PHB (if they decide to change the spells in the PHB), there is still the conjure minor elemental spell, which now means your wizard or druid can summon a flock of giant striders.

Version 7.0i on the front page includes all the monsters from Monstrous Compendium vol 1: Spelljammer Creatures (available for free from the D&D digital library at D&D Digital Library) and all the monsters of CR 7 or less from Mythos Monsters.

D&D 5E (2024) What if you were in charge of reworking classes for 5.5?

I would like to see martials have some kind of abilities (maybe stances) that require concentration. I would like the monk to spend ki points activating magical stances instead of one-shot abilities. You can take as many stances per long rest as your proficiency bonus (one at a time because of...

D&D 5E (2014) Do any creature’s types get changed in Mordenkainen’s Monsters of the Multiverse?

Most non-humanoid species associated with demon lords running around the prime material plane seem to be Monstrosities (minotaurs, chimeras, driders, and lamia come to mind). It may be a necessary transition step in a long process to make a race into demons (if so, kind of makes you wonder what...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Updates: Monstrous Compendium

Godzilla is great, but I think based on the sickening radiance spell, that radiant is supposed to be the stand in for radiation. It is a little hard to square that with all the celestials doing radiant damage, but maybe that is what puts the "God" in "Godzilla."

D&D 5E (2014) 5e Lists of Monsters, Spells, Races, Feats, Etc.

Version 7.0h on the front page has all the monsters from Appendix A from Call of the Netherdeep, any monster from the first three chapters of Call of the Netherdeep, and all monsters from Legendary Games Mythos Monsters of CR 1 or less (or was on the same page as a monster of that level).

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Updates: Monstrous Compendium

I was thinking of spiritual damage for celestials and fiends (and maybe for clerics using divine strike), leaving force damage for primal/arcane types like uber elementals and archfey. When an archfiend hits you, it doesn't just hit you, it hits your soul.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e Lists of Monsters, Spells, Races, Feats, Etc.

There have been a number of changes to version 7.0f on the front page. The subtypes were getting long, so I split the variable into 3 variables: subtypes, subtypes shapechanger, and subtypes class, as I thought this would lead to the best sorting/filtering options. I started on the drow...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e Lists of Monsters, Spells, Races, Feats, Etc.

D&D 5E (2024) Should bring back diverse spellcaster level design.

I wouldn't mind if clerics got warlock casting (but domain spells didn't count against spells known or prepared) and got more specific "divine interventions" instead of 6-9 level spells. I would cut the wizard list but move magical secrets to them (at lower levels, they could only learn spells...

D&D General For those that find Alignment useful, what does "Lawful" mean to you

I treat alignment as what the PC or NPC is at a given moment. I look at the law and chaos axis to be mostly about how you want other people to perceive you. Lawful and chaotic types both want others to notice them (for different reasons). Neutrals would prefer that others didn't think about...
