A Campaign With a Silly (But Interesting) Twist

I am with Hong and atomn; if balance is such an issue I would rather have the DM just say so and handle it in a metagame fashion and leave the justification out of the game world.

More the merrier? I don't think so.

I have 7-8 players now and used to have a couple more, but that's not because I want to have the group that big, simply because I have a number of friends who like to play (and no one else in my core group generally runs anything). Things are definitely pretty slow this way and I think we'd...

Ever just redo a players character sheet?

Ditto, except that I have them all saved to disc (I use the Mad Irishman's sheets) so it's not my own penmanship (which isn't that great) so much as a fresh printed copy every couple of sessions.

Dragon Magazine: Monster Ecologies to be released!

This seems like a cool idea but I'd have to flip through it, see the final selection and the physical quality of the product before purchasing. Also, while I think the current run of ecology articles are okay, I think the old format used during the 1st and 2nd edition eras, was far superior.

Return to the Tomb of Horrors - your experiences?

I enjoy the set-up sections of this adventure, but have never had a chance to run/play it. The section on Moil I think is much too long, despite a couple of attempts to finish reading through this adventure, I always run out of steam before making it through all the towers. In short, I have...

    all time Favorite module cover.

I'm going to have to agree with Nefrast and Klaus about Temple of Elemental Evil being the top pick. The (orange) cover of X1 Isle of Dread has more nostalgia for me, but it's not as good of a cover by any stretch.

Is There A Spell That Makes You Colossal Size?

There's a spell in the Spell Compendium that turns you into a Warforged Titan, but I'm not sure exactly what size category that is.

    Commuting to a game

The secret is to run (or at least host) the game, then the commute is easy. Generally for me, either that is the case or it's a weekend game so it's less of an issue. I did join a game several years back that was on a weeknight on the other side of the city, and I didn't last long in it.

Do close friends make less-effective players?

Yep, I prefer to play with friends, and haven't found any authority issues cropping up. My main group consists mainly of friends (and family) that play in my campaign but don't do much, if any, gaming when I'm not running something. However I also have friends that I play other games with that...

    I've turned around on Downer

I think that this is because it's just so busy, whereas the smaller pieces of his art elsewhere in the magazine are generally just a single creature/character/item on a white background. That said, I don't particularly care for his art in either format. Oh well, it's not a deal breaker for me...

    Bard's Gate (Necromancer Games)

Great, thanks to all the people who have responded so far. Sounds good to me (though I still welcome further comments and opinions). Can anyone tell me the city size, in terms of population and d20 classification (small city/large city/metropolis)?

    Bard's Gate (Necromancer Games)

I was wondering what people thought about Necromancer Games' Bard's Gate. This product was announced years ago, and for a while I was anticipating it, but apparently it slipped in earlier this year under my radar. I have yet to see a copy in stores, and frankly only became aware that it was...

    I've turned around on Downer

I think it's still pretty patchy, but glad to hear that someone is enjoying it.

    Cityscape

The book is primarily useful for someone designing their own cities, and people using Waterdeep, Sharn or another published setting won't have as much use for much of the material. However if you're the kind of GM who makes the (published) city your own by adding additional guilds...

    Gaming across the US

Sorry, but if you live north of the border than wouldn't that put you in the Pacific Southwest? Nice try though. ;)

Super Sized Roleplaying... more for our money?

Whizbang's comment about the size is the first reason. Having separate books is just easier to handle & transport. Plus if I'm GMing, I can spread out a couple of books open to the relevant page on the table, but a giant hardcover can only be on one page at a time. The second reason is...

    Gaming across the US

There's tons of gaming to be had in the Northwest. I can't speak specifically about Portland, but as you might expect, Seattle is a gaming hotbed.

WoTC Gelatinous Cube Mini - Empty or not?

I clicked on this website and my Norton Anti-virus came up with a message notifying me that it had blocked an intrusion attempt by the site.

The Ruins of Undermountain - your experiences?

When I first picked up the boxed set, I was disappointed in the blank areas, however when I actually used it in my game, those areas were the larger chunk of the part we used (specifically the SW & NE quadrants of Level 1). Both of these areas were controlled by factions, one of which was a...
