Mutants and Masterminds 2E - I Have It

Uncanny dodge: you retain your dodge bonus when surprised or flat-footed, and cannot be surprise attacked (unless stunned or helpless, Uncanny Dodge doesn't help with that). UD works via one sense. If someone has complete concealment from that sense, you still lose your dodge bonus versus...

    MnM Ranked Feat Caps

Maybe I missed this in the book. Some ranked feats are limited by what they improve, and note so in their text- attack focus is limited by your PL attack maximum, for example. Those are easy to figure out. Another feat, like Improved Disarm, gives +2 to disarm attacks per rank. Is the number...

Help. I lost the defence roll variant!

It's from Unearthed Arcana. The defense roll is 1d20 + AC modifiers for PCs, versus a DC of 12 + the NPC's attack bonuses. Saving throws work the same way: 1d20 + save modifiers (spell level + caster stat mod, typically) versus 12 + the critter's fort, reflex, or will bonus.

    They mean class level.

    Eldritch Knight, Effective or Defective?

He's been doing work for TSR, and then Wizards, for years. Did a lot of stuff for Alternity in the late 90s. http://www.pen-paper.net/rpgdb.php?op=showcreator&creatorid=96 Don't know if most of that is as a freelancer or what, but lately, "Director of RPG R&D" sounds like he's there full...

    Eldritch Knight, Effective or Defective?

I'm playing a fighter/sorceror/EK, and he works. Depends heavily on buffing, but since he can do that for himself, he's constantly got a greater mage armor, alter self, and phantom steed going, and within a few rounds of combat starting can have up a shield, protection from evil, and/or fly if...

Weapon finesse - big can o' worms here

This is known as the "Old WoD/Exalted" solution, and lead directly to characters focusing on Dexterity to the exclusion of all else. :)

Weapon finesse - big can o' worms here

Mechanically, the weapons are balanced versus each other, that's not really the question. Weapon finesse is balanced versus other feats by virtue of NOT applying to everything. If it applies to all one-handed weapons with no restrictions, it is vastly better than, for instance, Weapon Focus...

Weapon finesse - big can o' worms here

I think it would become too good to be a single feat at that point. As written now, weapon finesse is a nice balance between the 3.0 version, which was too narrow to be worth a feat slot, and making dexterity overly applicable. Applying to all weapons would mean the character doesn't give...

    Epic Skills: Broken but HILARIOUS

Sure they do. A nonepic character with a strength penalty can jump 40 feet. The current world record is, what, about 30 feet?

Dude, those dragons could never get off the ground, their wings would totally snap right in half. LOLOMGBBQ!!

    Buff my phantom steed

Well, it is a creature ("You conjure a Large, quasi-real, horselike creature"), so it's a valid target for spells with a target like "one creature" or "creature touched", so buff spells should affect it. Cast mage armor or greater mage armor on it for a AC boost. Haste, maybe, too. Heck, cast...

    Contingency Healing

Well, you know, he doesn't like rules that disagree with him, so he's conveniently missing your post.

    Contingency Healing

No, you're just wrong. You don't increment down the count of hit points. Your hit points go directly to -20 in this example, and you die. The example you quoted about reaching -10 refers to the case of being between 0 and -10, when you take one point of damage each round until you stabilize...

    Mechalus/Aleer Favored Class?

It's probably not any better than any other magical item. (Golem tech, good name btw.) Have it use up item slots- a golem eye uses the glasses slot, a golem arm uses the ring or gloves slot, and so on. Have it cost extra because it can't really be stolen or disarmed easily. And you're good...

    Improved Saving Throws

A monk's wisdom bonus applies to his AC even when he is flatfooted. Due to the ascetic mage feat, your charisma bonus replaces wisdom bonus here, so you should get +9 to your flatfooted armor class.

    Mechalus/Aleer Favored Class?

In Alternity, the mechalus were a warlike race who wiped out a sentient civilization early in their history, and have since become pacifist. They are inherently cybernetic. Artificier works, and maybe favored soul? Mechanical and spiritual.

    Given Unlimited Time, I'd play/GM...

My bronze age, dawn of civilization, god-kings of city-states campaign. Run using MnM 2e, Exalted 2e, or wushu, depending on my mood.

    Improved Saving Throws

No, armor from the robe does not help your touch AC. Neither does the bonus from an amulet of natural armor. Armor and natural armore are explicitly excluded from touch AC.

    Improved Saving Throws

That only applies to the armor class bonus you get from your dexterity. Like reflex saves or skills, for instance.
